How to Delete Instagram Account

So, if you're thinking of taking a break from the popular photo and video-sharing app by deleting your account, you're at the right place. Earlier there was no direct option within the Instagram app to delete the account permanently. Now, you can do the same from your mobile app. Here's the step-by-step guide on how to delete an Instagram account.

How to Delete an Instagram Account

Step 1: First, open your Instagram account and go to your profile. Click on the hamburger menu to access the settings and activity.

Step 2: Tap on the 'Accounts Center' and 'Personal details'.

Step 3: Now, you can find the Account ownership and control. Tap on it to access the delete option.

Step 4: Once you click on the Deactivation or deletion option, both your Instagram and Facebook accounts will be displayed. Select the Instagram account and then the Delete account option.

Step 5: Instagram will be asking you to choose the reason for deleting the account. After choosing a relevant answer, you will be prompted to re-enter the Instagram password.

Step 6: Now, select the 'Permanently delete my account' option to delete the account.

Notably, once you delete your account, your profile, photos, videos, and followers everything will be permanently removed. So, if you are planning to take a break you can select the deactivation option.

The process for deactivation is the same as deletion, you just need to choose the deactivate option instead of delete. Then it will be prompted to re-enter the Instagram password to deactivate the account.
