There will be a dedicated tab that lists all needed permissions to share files with people nearby. Users will have to access this section directly within the app settings to share the specific files with nearby devices.

However, other users will be able to receive the files only if they open the same screen within their WhatsApp app and grant permission for their devices to be connected.

This means that the process will depend on the user, who will have complete control over whether they want to be visible or connect to others' devices. The file-sharing feature without the Internet will be end-to-end encrypted, and phone numbers will be hidden throughout the discovery and transfer process for privacy.

Neither you will need internet or Bluetooth connectivity to share photos or videos with your contacts in the coming days. However, location permission will be necessary to identify, connect to, and find nearby devices. Users can also revoke these permissions at any time from settings.
