How to Set Up and Manage Tasks and Reminders in ChatGPT Like a Pro
OpenAI has unveiled a new feature called Tasks in ChatGPT, aiming to make the chatbot feel more like a personal assistant. Currently in beta, Tasks lets users schedule reminders and automate simple actions, marking a shift from ChatGPT's typical use as a real-time conversational tool.
For now, the feature is available only to paid subscribers on the Plus, Team, and Pro plans, giving them early access to explore this new capability.

What Can You Do with ChatGPT Tasks?
The concept behind Tasks is straightforward: you can ask ChatGPT to manage tasks or send reminders when you need them. For instance, you could set it to summarize the latest news headlines every morning at 8 AM, remind you to call a friend on their birthday, or even send you an inspiring quote at the start of your workday.
Tasks can also be handy for keeping tabs on things like stock prices, tracking your favorite team's match schedule, or reminding you to check flight updates before a trip.
How to Enable and Use Tasks in ChatGPT
Getting started with Tasks in ChatGPT is simple if you're on a paid plan. Here's how you can turn it on and start scheduling:
- Access ChatGPT: Open ChatGPT on your preferred platform-web, Android, iOS, or macOS.
- Select the GPT-4o Model: In the menu, choose the "4o with scheduled tasks" option to enable the Tasks feature.
- Set Your Task: Type out what you want ChatGPT to do and specify when it should happen. For example, "Remind me to drink water every two hours starting tomorrow."
- Manage Tasks: Once a task is created, you can view, edit, or delete it in the dedicated Tasks section, accessible from the profile menu.
- Receive Notifications: ChatGPT will notify you when the task is completed through your preferred device-web, desktop, or mobile.
Tasks are limited to 10 active entries at a time, so you'll need to manage them carefully if you're juggling multiple reminders.
Available Platforms and Pricing
The Tasks feature is accessible on web browsers, Android, iOS, and macOS, with Windows support expected to arrive soon. Currently, Tasks is exclusive to paid plans, which are priced between ₹1,730 and ₹17,300 per month.
A New Direction for ChatGPT
This update takes ChatGPT beyond its usual role of answering questions and responding in the moment. By allowing users to schedule actions, OpenAI is positioning the chatbot as a proactive assistant that can help with daily organization.
However, there are limitations to consider. Tasks currently only support text-based actions, so you won't be able to upload files or use voice inputs. Additionally, the feature doesn't support triggering custom GPTs, which might be a drawback for advanced users.
What's Next for OpenAI?
OpenAI has bigger plans on the horizon. The company is reportedly developing a tool called Operator, set to release later this month. Operator promises to be more advanced, capable of controlling browsers and performing complex actions like document editing and online research.
Another rumored project, Caterpillar, could enhance ChatGPT's ability to solve problems, manage documents, and perform in-depth searches.
