How to turn off annoying e-mail notifications in Google+?

Notifications are a very useful feature. But it can be also annoying when you see that your inbox is crowded with notifications. Notifications works in such a way that after you get a notification, you will get another e-mail as an alert about the notification that you have received earlier. This is annoying since you get an e-mail notification for every push notification. Hence you will receive 2 notifications for every single event, which can be annoying.

Here is how you can disable Google+ e-mail alerts. Disabling this feature will make you get only one notification.

Steps

In Google+, when you navigate to the top right hand corner, you will see a ‘Menu’ button denoted next to your profile picture

You will have to click open the Menu tab

Then you will have to click on the option that denotes ‘Account’

A new screen will start loading

From the menu choices that are given on the left side, you will have to click on the tab that denotes ‘Google+’

Now you will have to scroll down towards the ‘Alerts’ area and then remove the checkmarks that are given for the boxes next to the events that you does not want to be notified through the e-mail

There are also options to adjust the alerts that will appear on your phone also

This will disable the e-mail notifications in Google+.

Here is the list of alerts inside Google+ that you can disable. It is mainly classified in to five categories.

They are

Posts

Circles

Photos

Messenger

Communication about Pages

On the right side of the Posts option, you can see an option for ‘E-mail’ and also ‘Phone’. You can choose the one which you would like that.

Posts

Inside the posts tab, you will be provided with options such as

‘Mentions me in a post’

‘Shares a post with me directly’

‘Comments on a post i created’ or

‘Comments on a post after i comment on it’

Removing the checkmark will disable the Posts notifications.

Circles

‘Adds me to a circle’ is the only option over here. You can uncheck the box corresponding to it below e-mail if required.

Photos

Tags me in a photo

Tags one of my photos

Comments on a photo after i comment on it

Comments on a photo i am tagged in

Comments on a photo i tagged

Now you can remove the checkmarks corresponding to the e-mail column for disabling the Photos notifications.

Finally you can do the same with the ‘Messenger’ as well as ‘Communications about Pages’ Notifications respectively.
