How to Use DeepSeek Free? The Open-Source AI Chatbot Taking on ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini
DeepSeek, a Chinese AI chatbot, is making waves in the tech world. It competes with ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini. Despite its similar performance to ChatGPT, DeepSeek was developed at a much lower cost. Unlike ChatGPT, it is open-sourced, allowing anyone to view and contribute to its code.
How to Download and Use DeepSeek?
Accessing DeepSeek on mobile devices is straightforward. Users can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Alternatively, they can visit 'chat.deepseek.com' through a browser. Before using it, an account must be created using a Google account.

Upon signing in, users will encounter an interface similar to ChatGPT's. A text box at the bottom allows interaction with the chatbot. To view past conversations, users can tap on the two horizontal lines on the top left of the screen.
DeepSeek currently lacks some features compared to its competitors. It cannot generate images or analyse photos yet. However, it does not require any paid subscription at this time.
To activate the DeepThink R1 model or search online information, users need to manually enable these features. This can be done by clicking on the DeepThink (R1) and Search buttons located beneath the text box.
If users wish to extract text from images or analyse documents, they should press the '+' button on the right side of the text box. This feature enhances user interaction by providing more options for data analysis.
Starting New Conversations
Initiating a new chat is simple; just tap the button on the top right corner. This action starts a fresh conversation with DeepSeek. Although currently basic in functionality, future updates are expected to introduce more features.
The AI landscape continues to evolve rapidly with innovations like DeepSeek offering accessible solutions for users worldwide. Its open-source nature encourages collaboration and development within the tech community.
