Google has introduced new AI-driven features to enhance travel planning, offering tools to craft itineraries, find deals, and make bookings. These innovations aim to simplify the travel process by integrating AI capabilities into various stages of trip planning.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use Google's latest AI features to plan your next vacation.

How to Use Google’s New AI-Powered Features to Plan Your Trip

How to Make Travel Plans with Canvas in AI Mode

Canvas in AI Mode is a tool that helps organise travel plans tailored to individual preferences.

  • Users can specify their trip type and desired recommendations, then select "Create Canvas."
  • This generates a plan using real-time data from flights, hotels, Google Maps, and other online sources. Suggestions include hotel comparisons and restaurant ideas based on location and amenities.

AI-Powered Flight Deals

Flight Deals is an AI-powered tool within Google Flights designed for budget-conscious travellers. It allows users to describe their travel preferences conversationally. The tool then uses AI to find affordable destinations and the best deals available. Initially launched in the U.S., Canada, and India, it is now expanding globally.

This feature is rolling out to over 200 countries, including the U.K., France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, and Korea. It supports more than 60 languages, making it accessible to a wide audience seeking cost-effective travel options.

Agentic AI for Seamless Bookings

Google's agentic AI capabilities are being extended to simplify bookings for restaurants, events, and wellness appointments. Users can describe their needs and preferences; AI Mode will search multiple platforms for real-time availability matching their criteria. This feature provides curated options with direct booking links through partners like OpenTable and Ticketmaster.

The agentic booking feature is currently available in the U.S., allowing users to book restaurants without needing to opt into Labs. This expansion aims to reduce the hassle of making reservations by streamlining the process through AI assistance.

Travel planning with Canvas is accessible on desktop in the U.S. for those participating in the AI Mode experiment via Labs. Users can refine their plans by asking follow-up questions or adjusting preferences such as hotel proximity to specific activities.

These advancements highlight Google's commitment to leveraging AI technology in enhancing user experiences across various aspects of travel planning. By integrating these tools into existing platforms like Google Flights and Maps, Google aims to provide seamless solutions for travellers worldwide.
