Instagram Now Lets You Share Spotify Songs in Notes — Here's How to Do It
Ahead of World Music Day, Instagram has rolled out a new feature that allows users to share their currently playing Spotify tracks directly to Instagram Notes.
The update brings a low-effort way to display your musical mood, tucked away in the same space where short text updates or status messages usually appear above your direct messages.

How Spotify Sharing in Notes Works
If you’re listening to music on Spotify and want to share it without going through the hassle of creating a Story or Reel, this feature makes it easier. Here’s how it works:
-
When creating a Note, tap the music note icon.
-
If this is your first time using the feature, you’ll be prompted to link your Spotify account.
-
If you're already playing something, the song will appear automatically in your Note.
-
If not, the next song you play within the next 30 minutes will be shown instead.
-
You can also choose to add optional text to go along with the song.
-
Once you tap “Share,” the music Note appears above your DMs, visible to mutual followers.
The integration creates a lightweight way to show what you’re into, without committing to a full post or even a Story.
How to Link Spotify to Instagram
You can link your Spotify account in two ways:
-
Go to Instagram Settings > Your App and Media > App Website Permissions and link Spotify manually.
-
Or, link directly by tapping a Spotify track in Reels, Stories, or when creating a Note—an option to link will appear automatically.
Once connected, Notes will recognize what you're listening to in real time and keep your updates current without much effort. This feature is now live in India and expected to expand globally.
