Instagram Tips: How to Limit Someone Without Unfollowing or Blocking
Have you ever wanted to block someone on Instagram, but held back because you didn't want to lose a follower, or you're tired of their unwanted comments on your posts, or you just don't want them to see when you're online? For the unaware, Instagram offers an in-built feature called 'Restrict' that lets you control your interactions without fully cutting someone off, which can also be called shadow block.
The Instagram Restrict feature allows you to hide certain users without them knowing. Unlike a full block, which completely severes ties, this is a more subtle approach that protects your privacy while keeping things low-key. Here's how to do it -

What Is Instagram Restrict?
Instagram's Restrict feature lets you quietly limit someone's interactions with you, without them knowing. When you restrict someone, they can't see when you're online or if you've read their messages, and you won't receive notifications for their comments.
Even their comments on your posts or Reels won't be visible to other people. They also can't tag or mention you or remix your content, and their messages to you will be moved to message requests.
Here's How to Restrict Someone on Instagram
Step 1: Open Instagram and go to their profile.
Step 2: Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner.
Step 3: Select "Restrict" and confirm the same.
Alternatively, you can restrict someone through your settings. Just go to your profile, tap on Settings and Activity, then scroll down to find the Restricted option. From there, you can search for the person you want to restrict and add them to your restricted list.
In addition, if you want to control what appears in your Stories and Feed without unfollowing someone, Mute is the option. This feature lets you hide someone's posts, stories from your feed while still keeping them on your follow list.
