The Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2024 is set to kick off in a couple of hours. The chipmaker is all geared up to unveil the next generation Snapdragon flagship system-on-chip during the first keynote.

As mentioned before, Qualcomm will ditch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 moniker for its next-gen chip, calling it the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC instead. The next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will power the flagship smartphones of tomorrow, including the Xiaomi 15 series, OnePlus 13 5G, iQOO 13 5G, Realme GT 7 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, among others.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2024 will kick off in a couple of hours at 09:00 am HT, 03:00 pm ET, or 12:30 am IST. Qualcomm will likely reveal all the details surrounding the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip during the first keynote, where it will also announce other major developments.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Specifications (Expected)

The Snapdragon 8 Elite, built on TSMC's second-gen 3nm process, features Qualcomm's custom Oryon cores in a '2+4' CPU cluster. Performance cores can reach 4.32GHz, while efficiency cores hit 3.53GHz. Paired with the Adreno 830 GPU, it offers a 40% boost in graphics and a 35% improvement in ray tracing acceleration, with the GPU clocked at 1.10GHz across three slices. This setup ensures smooth performance in AAA games and supports modern graphics APIs.

The chipset also includes a 45% faster NPU for AI tasks and supports dual-channel LPDDR5X RAM at up to 5.30GHz. Despite lacking LPDDR6 memory, the integrated Snapdragon X80 modem and Qualcomm FastConnect 7900 technology enable AI-Enhanced Wi-Fi 7 and UWB for advanced connectivity. The 24MB L2 cache, divided equally between performance and efficiency cores, further enhances speed and efficiency.

Upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Smartphones

The Xiaomi 15 series (Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro) will be the first to use the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Following the launch, the OnePlus 13, Realme GT 7 Pro, and iQOO 13 will be among the next smartphones to incorporate Qualcomm's new flagship chip.

Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra as well as the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus. Moreover, the Honor Magic 7 series will also use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. In the first half of 2025, you can expect the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Vivo X200 Ultra to come with the new Snapdragon chip as well.
