Thinking of Moving to the New Pixel 10? Here’s How to Switch From an iPhone Without Any Hassle
Switching from an iPhone to an Android phone has never been the smoothest process. Google knows this and has tried to make the move to its new Pixel 10 series less of a headache. Here’s how the transition works and what you should expect if you’re planning to switch.

Get Started Before the Phone Arrives
If you order a Pixel 10 directly from the Google Store, you don’t need to wait for the delivery to begin the process. You’ll receive instructions by email to start preparing your iPhone data in advance. That includes contacts, passwords, photos, and even wallet items. Everything is backed up to your Google Account so setup is quicker once the phone is in hand.
The Transfer Process
When the Pixel arrives, the actual transfer takes about 30 minutes. You connect your iPhone to the Pixel with a cable and follow the on-screen instructions. You can move:
- Photos and videos
- Contacts
- iMessages and texts
- WhatsApp messages
- Notes
- Call history
- Apps (where supported)
After the main setup, you can also copy the rest of your iCloud photos into Google Photos if you want everything consolidated.
Apps and Subscriptions
Most apps will copy over, but subscription services like Spotify or Apple Music require you to sign in again. Paid apps may not transfer directly, and in those cases developers decide whether they’ll honor previous purchases.
Messaging and Calls
The switch doesn’t mean losing touch with iPhone users. Apple’s adoption of RCS makes texting between Pixel and iPhone smoother, with features like read receipts and emoji reactions working across both platforms.
FaceTime is more limited. You can’t start a FaceTime call from a Pixel, but you can join one if someone sends you a link. For day-to-day video calling, options like Google Meet, WhatsApp, or Messenger are alternatives.
Location and Everyday Features
Location sharing works through Google Maps. You can choose who sees your location and for how long, similar to how Apple handles it in iOS.
The Pixel 10 also includes small conveniences like Clear Calling, which reduces background noise during phone calls, and built-in tools for editing photos, including ones originally taken on an iPhone.
A Chance to Clean Up
Switching phones is also an opportunity to review your digital clutter. Before transferring, you can delete duplicate photos, update contacts, and decide which apps you actually want to carry over.
