Tips and Tricks To Use The Redmi 2 Better

    The Xiaomi Redmi 2s was announced in the Indian sub-continent in the end of the 1st quarter of the year. The handset is available on Flipkart via flash sale which seems to be going pretty well for the Chinese OEM.

    The handset is an upgraded version of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S whish was released last year. The device has a 4.7" HD IPS display and is powered by a quad-core snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

    The device runs in Android 4.4 KitKat and as a MiUI ver 6 slapped on top of it. The handset packs an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper. The device supports external expansion of upto 32GB.

    Xiaomi Redmi 2 In Pictures

    The Redmi 2s allows you to access your camera directly from the lockscree of the phone. All you need to do is swipe left on the lockscreen and your camera will be launched.

    Not only can you directly launch the Camera from the lock screen but the flash can also be launched directly from the lock screen. All you need to do is press the lock screen button and then press and hold the middle button.

    Long press the left navigation button to see the four menus below. The last amongst them is effects and it gives you a wide idea of what kind of transition do you want from one screen to another.

    Swipe down the notifications panel and swipe up to find the disable icon. After you've found it just click on it. Now you'll find that all your navigation buttons are disabled. Do not worry. They can be brought back to normal quite as easily. To activate the navigation buttons Tap the midle navigation button and press the lock button simultaneously.

    Go top the Phone's settings panel and find additional settings and click on it. Scroll down to battery and tap on it. In the battery settings one can find the power settings and you can click it to toggle in between Performance and Balanced modes.

    Open the settings panel and tap on the notifications tab. A toggle position tab will be present after you enter the notifications area. Click on it to open the menus and drag and press& hold to sort your icons.

    This is a rather interesting feature present in this device. You can actually customize your device and be specific about receiving calls or messages from a specific number or a group of numbers. Just swipe down your notification panel and click on the DND icon. All calls and messages are silenced when you activate it. Furthermore, you can also add your own custom settings to it.

    All android users have been worried about the same ever since. The number of accidental in-pocket dials reported by android users keep on soaring. The Redmi 2S however has an option that'll prevent your phone from dialing by itself when it is inside your pocket.

    Go to settings> then to additional settings and tap on the display tab. There you will find the toggle switch to "Prevent pocket dials".


    Unlike other smartphones where you have to install a third party call recorder app to record calls, the Redmi 2s has an in-built function to record calls.

    To turn the setting ON. Open the "settings" menu and scroll down to the call settings . In the call settings you will find "call record settings". Tap on it and choose your preference for recording an ongoing call.


    Pressing the left navigation button once brings up the running background apps. You can either close all apps by tapping on the cross icon at the bottom or select which opnes to close.

    Yes! That's possible. For the apps you do not want to end, just slide them down once and they get locked. You can choose more than one app like that. Now you may end the rest of the processes and the ones you've selected will stay intact. To ulock these processes repeat the same process and just slide down the icons.
