It can become a little embarrassing to run out phone storage will sharing files with your friends especially when you are using an iPhone.
And we know how frustrating it is to clear up storage space and not end up deleting important files. So here are some of the tips & tricks that would give you the much required 'SPACE'!
Analyse your Usage
Before solving any problem you need to understand the real cause behind it. So to know which items are taking the most amount of storage in your phone just go to -General > Usage> Manage Storage.
Clear out Old Messages
First start by deleting all those unwanted old text messages because even these small texts can take up a lot of space over a period of time. It would be better you just set your iPhone to automatically delete old messages. Go to Settings > Messages > Keep Messages, you can select any option from 30 days to a year.
Delete Unused Apps/games
Apps & Games that are just sitting on your iPhone for over a month without a use need to go now. Some of these items especially the games can take a lot of space like Angry Birds & Candy Crush.
Use Alternate Storage Services
There is alternate storage service like DropBox and Google+ available for free and provide some good storage facility. You can also use Apple's iCloud services.
Save only HDR photos
If you are using your iPhone's HDR function then your phone would be storing two images of the same photo. Well it works well in capturing Low light images and in shadows but takes up double the space.
So all you got to do is go to your phone's Setting > Photo & Camera > Deselect - Keep Normal Photos
Turn Off the Photo Stream
Now Photo Stream basically syncs up your last 1000 photos across all your iOS devices. But this means taking double the space so we recommend unless you want to share photos from your iPad to iPhone, you turn it off. Go to Settings > Photos & Camera > Deselect My Photo Stream.
Remove Old Podcasts
Each Podcast weighs around 25MB, so if you have listened to an entire season then you will have quite a collection which could be heavy on storage. So we suggest you start deleting them by just swiping to the left of each podcast.
Clear Browsing History
Well every computing system has a history or a cache memory that needs to be freed from time to time. So just like a computer or iPad your iPhone too needs this clean up drive every once in a while. So if you are using Safari as your browser then go to Settings > Safari App > Clear History & Website Data.
Avoid Multiple Copies of Photos
Photo editing apps like Photoshop Touch & Instagram tend to store more than one copy of photos. So make sure you get rid of these extra copies of the same photo.
So, hope you have understood these tips & tricks and it would help you free up that space on your precious iPhone.
