How to Block Annoying Ads in Facebook Messenger
Brands can send you ads that look like messages in Facebook Messenger. Check out how you can stop the same.
Facebook has just updated its Messenger to allow brands to send you ads disguised as messages. Cheers!
We normally see our favourite brand's Facebook page and we usually like the page to be updated about their latest offerings. We also sometimes communicate with them through the Messenger for general query or voice complaints.

While communicating with retailers has become a lot easier, unfortunately, reaching out to a company this way might get you more that what you had hoped for.
In the Messenger update, Facebook has informed advertisers that they can now create News Feed ads that open a conversation in Messenger. So if you ever clicked on one of those ads, in future you can be contacted by that brand in Messenger directly.
However, users have the ability to block or delete troublesome "advertimessages." But that might not be the end as we will likely be seeing more and more of them from the different brands.

If you ever clicked on one of those ads, or have started a conversation with the brand representatives, here are few instructions that will help you block the messages from certain pages.
On a Phone or Tablet:
- Go to that retailer's page and select "Message."
- Then select "Manage" in the top right-hand corner and then "Manage Messages."
- Select "Block All Messages" and that retailer won't be able to contact you.
On a Laptop or Desktop:
- Go to that retailer's page and select "Message."
- A chat window will pop up, select the options icon in the top right-hand corner of the window.
- Select "Block Messages" from the drop down menu and then again in the confirmation message.
Try Calling Them Instead
So in the future, if want to reach out to a company to voice concerns without getting spammed, try calling them instead.
Hopefully, as these unwanted ads are really annoying, what we can wish for is that Facebook will also create an opt-out method for the same.
