Instagram is updating new features at a breakneck pace, and this is of course good. We all know that we can send messages on Instagram. And now Instagram has added a new feature that will allow you to get starred chat with the option of filtering message search.

The feature is now being tested and will be rolled out soon for all the users. The feature will be soon available for both the Android and iPhone users. After getting this option, you will be able to use filters to see the starred and the unread messages. It’s time for you to check how you can use these features.

How to star a message on Instagram?

You always like to star the special messages, don't you? By giving a star to the message, you mark it special and important. A starred message is instantly separated from the mess of other messages. After a message is starred, you can use the new feature to filter these starred messages. Follow the steps given below to star a message on Instagram.

Step 1: Launch the Instagram app and then tap on DM (Direct Message) icon placed in the right section of the corner.

Step 2: Choose the message that you want to star mark and then keep holding the message, give it a long touch. A pop-up menu will now appear, tap on the star icon there.

You can also star a message, right from the chat thread. Open the chat thread and then tap on the star icon placed at the top bar. You can just reverse the step for unstaring the messages. A quick guide for the same is given below.

Step 1: Open Instagram account and tap on the ‘Direct Message' icon.

Step 2: Choose the starred message that you want to unmark by giving a long touch to the message. Choose the ‘Unstar' option now to remove the star from the message.

How to filter Instagram messages?

You now know how to star and unstar a message, and it's time for you to know how you can filter these messages. You can use the filter message to separate your starred and unread message from the basket of other messages. Follow the steps given below to filter the Instagram messages.

Step 1: Launch the Instagram account and tap on the Direct Message icon placed at the top right section of the screen.

Step 2: Beside the Search bar, you would be able to see the new filter icon.

Step 3: Choose the message that you want to filter out. You have three options to choose from which are Inbox, Unread, and Starred.

Use the Inbox option to see all the messages, use the Starred option to see all the star marked messages and the Unread option to see all the unread messages in the inbox.
