How to link your Aadhaar with mobile number
If you don't do this, your SIM card will be deactivated after February 2018.
There is no denying that Aadhaar has become a crucial document in India to establish your identity. It is important not only for your financial requirements such as tax returns filing but also to keep your mobile number and bank account active.
Recently, the Government of India has started sending alerts prompting you to link your Aadhaar to your SIM card. There are reports that the unlinked SIM cards will be deactivated after February 2018. This information has made everyone look out for ways to link the Aadhaar and mobile number in order to continue their uninterrupted services.
UIDAI intros mAadhaar app for Android users
The benefits of linking your Aadhaar and mobile number are many in number. You can e-verify your income tax return and edit your personal details on your Aadhaar simply via online as the OTP for the verification will be sent to your registered mobile phone.
All SIM cards without Aadhaar linkage will be deactivated after Feb 2018
Now, when it comes to linking your Aadhaar to your mobile number, we need to tell you that this process cannot be done online. The steps for this process are given below.
Step 1: Go to the nearest Aadhaar Center.
Step 2: Get the Aadhaar Correction/Update Form from the Aadhaar Center. You can download this form from UIDAI website.
Step 3: Fill the form and submit the same. You need to mention that you need to get the mobile number updated.
Step 4: You need to take a photocopy of your identity card such as passport or PAN card.
Step 5: You need to undergo the biometric verification process at the Aadhaar Center.
Step 6: The acknowledgment slip will be given to you at the center and your number will be linked to your Aadhaar in 10 days.
To change your mobile number after linking it to your Aadhaar, you can do it online. But the OTP for verification will be sent to the previous number that was registered.
Step 1: Go to the UIDAI website and click on Aadhaar Online Services.
Step 2: Go to Update Aadhaar Details that will redirect to Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal.
Step 3: Choose 'Click Here' at the bottom.
Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar number and the Captcha code and click on Send OTP.
Step 5: Submit the OTP and it will take you to the page where you can update the details.
Step 6: Go to the Mobile Number field and submit your new number.
