How to check if your Windows PC is protected from Meltdown and Spectra
A few days back, a researcher revealed that research revealed that nearly every computer chip manufactured in the last 10 years have been affected by kernel memory leak issue on all platform computers including Windows, Linux, and macOS. This flaw features built into chips that may have impacts on system performance. These flaws are named as Meltdown and Spectre.

These bugs allow the programs to steal data from the device that is being currently processed. Since the programs are not allowed to read from other programs, any malicious software or program can exploit Meltdown and Spectre to gain access to various personal information.
As the chipset got affected, these bugs can work on desktops, smartphones and cloud data's. In order to update the system from the Meltdown and Spectre, users need to updates the BIOS of the whole system and apply the update patches to the system.

Step 1: The Redmond tech giant prepared a script for the windows users through which they can find and recognize whether if their device affected by Meltdown and Spectre.
Step 2: If you are Windows 7 user, you will be required to download the Windows Management software 5.0 for running of PowerShell that will help to run and execute the command. For the Windows 10 and Windows 8 users, you can find PowerShell through search options.
Step 3: Search for PowerShell and click on it once you find it. In that type and enter the Install-Module SpeculationControl command. While it may ask you to install Nuget, where it could be done by typing Y and press the enter.
Step 4: Now run the commands

Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Scope Currentuser
Import-Module SpeculationControl
Get-SpeculationControlSettings
Set-ExecutionPolicy $SaveExecutionPolicy -Scope Currentuser
Step 5: With this, you will get all the information regarding your CPU, where it also shows whether your PC has the Meltdown and Spectre issues. In case, if it shows you any issues, go to settings and look out for the option to update the system. If you have an update, click on it start the update. This will add the patches to the system.
