How to Check Your PF Account Balance Online Using EPFO Using DigiLocker

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched Passbook Lite, a streamlined version of its online passbook service. This initiative is part of the EPFO 3.0 reforms, designed to enhance user accessibility and convenience. Unlike the previous system, where users needed a separate portal login to view their PF transactions, Passbook Lite is integrated directly into the EPFO Member Portal.

Passbook Lite offers an instant overview of PF balance, contributions, and withdrawals in a concise format. This integration eliminates the need for multiple logins, making it easier and faster for employees to track their provident fund details. The traditional detailed passbook remains available for those who prefer comprehensive insights.

Accessing EPF Details via DigiLocker

EPF details can also be accessed through the DigiLocker app on Android and iOS devices. To do this, download DigiLocker from your smartphone's app store and register or log in with your credentials. Link your EPFO account using Aadhaar, then navigate to the EPFO section under "Documents" to view your passbook, UAN card, PPO, and PF balance.

For users without internet access or facing app-related issues, alternatives such as the UMANG app, EPFO Member Portal, or SMS service are available. These options ensure that members can access their PF information conveniently.

Checking PF Balance on the EPFO Portal

Members can also check their PF balance via the EPFO website by visiting the portal and navigating to the "For Employees" section. Select "Member Passbook," log in using your activated UAN and password, and view your passbook and balance details instantly.

For offline access, EPFO provides quick balance checks through SMS or missed calls. To use SMS service, send "EPFOHO UAN" to 7738299899 from a registered mobile number linked with UAN. For missed call service, dial 9966044425 from a registered mobile number linked with UAN, Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details. An SMS with your latest PF details will be sent to you.

The traditional EPF passbook provides a detailed record of every transaction including monthly deposits and interest credited. While beneficial for those seeking comprehensive insights, it may overwhelm users who only wish to check their current status. Passbook Lite caters to employees wanting a quick glance at their balance without navigating additional pages.
