How To Get Numeric Keypad In Windows
There are various ways to utilize a numeric keypad on your laptop or computer when you don't have a physical one. Windows provide built-in solutions and several different options outside your computer. The below solutions will help you to access the numpad for your computer or laptop.
1) On-screen keyboard in Windows 10:
In Windows 10, there is a virtual numeric keypad that can be used. There are various routes to access on the on-screen keyboard. Among all, the quickest route to open the on-screen keyboard is to hold down the Windows logo key + Ctrl + O. You can access on or off the on-screen keyboard from the same shortcut keyboard.
If you want to use Windows settings, then follow these simple steps. Press the Start button on Windows. Click on the settings, Scroll down and select Ease of Access. Select Interaction on the left sidebar and press Keyboard. Under the option on-screen keyboard, click the slider to the ‘On' option. Close the windows.
The numeric keypad will not be displayed at first on the on-screen keyboard. You need to select the Options button that is on the right lower corner and check out for the Numeric keypad on. Later, press the NumLock option to view the keypad.
2) Numeric keypad emulators:
You can download a numeric keypad emulator for space-saving and specialized options. There are several options offered by the Numpad Emulator which include the ability to change the button-size, can alter the keys that appear on the numeric keypad and using special codes in place of the actual Numpad. If you don't require such customizations, the Numpad will work smoothly as same as an on-screen keyboard.
3) Laptop NumLock key:
The laptop has a numeric keypad activated using the NumLock key. The numbers are highlighted in a different color than the usual blue or grey. They are often located on the top row number on the 7, 8 and 9 key. To activate the Numpad, look for the Number lock key(like Numlock, Num, or NumLk). Later, search for the Alt or Fn key. If any key matches with the alternate numbers, then press it along with the Numlock key. Now, these alternate keys will work similarly to the Numpad of your laptop. Remember to turn off the NumLock with the same key combination.
4) iPad and iPhone Number Pads:
Some app options that let you use in your iPad or iPhone as a Numpad emulator. The NumPad supports the Windows when you use a VNC server like TightVNC for connecting to your computer. But the iOS app costs a little, but it is cheap and saves space when compared to the external numeric keypad.
5) Use AutoHotKey like a NumPad:
AutoHotKey is the best built-in solution for using numeric keypads. It will help you to use the Caps Lock Key as a numeric keypad key. When the Caps Lock is on, your numbers will work as keypad numbers. With the help of the AutoHotKey and Numpad, you can do all the useful things.
6) Buying an External Numpad:
You can go with this option if you are using a Numpad more. The external Numpads are connected to the computer via Bluetooth or USB. This option is expensive and tough to use the Numpad keys on your computer. The physical keyboard is faster to type the more numbers too.
With the above six Numpad options, you can find the best solution that fits your requirements. Whether you use a Numpad for an occasional activity or a daily basis, an external option or emulator will help you increase your typing speed.
