How to hide your Instagram activity status

The photo-sharing app Instagram is getting new features in quick successions and the latest one to add is the Activity Status. Similar to Facebook's messenger and Whatsapp, this feature provides information about when were you active last time to all others connected to you as followers. The “Show Activity Status” option is enabled by default inside of Instagram’s settings.

Also, there is an option to disable it, but when you do it, you cannot see others activity status too. Currently, it is on testing and available to most of the users on both Android and iOS. Only people you follow or have previously DM’d users can able to see how many minutes or hours ago you were using Instagram. In this article, we have listed the steps on how to turn off the Activity Status on Instagram.

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your device and make sure it is logged in.

Step 2: Now tap on your profile icon.

Step 3: Once you are in your profile, tap on the three horizontal dot on the top right corner. This icon is the user account icon that is all connected or related to your account activity. In case, of iOS click the three dots over the top corner and then hit the gear icon to reach to the user account activity.

Step 4: Now scroll down through the settings till you see 'Show Activity Status'. As we mentioned above, this activity would be enabled by default. Tap to slide and disable the toggle and switch it to off.

Step 5: Now the Show Activity Status option will be disabled thereafter.

Instagram has rolled out a new feature that lets you add GIF's to your stories after the company collaborated with Giphy. With this feature, you can browse currently trending GIF stickers or manually search for a specific one, and add it to either a photo or video story.

In addition to that, the company has also said to introduce the ability to upload photos and videos "of any size" into a story.
