How to Translate WhatsApp Chat Messages on Android

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that lets users translate chat messages directly in the app. This feature is part of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.25.12.25). Now, it's available to some beta testers and will roll out to more users soon. Here's how to translate WhatsApp chat messages.

As noted, this new feature is now available for select beta users. It lets them download language packs and translate messages inside WhatsApp. With this feature, users will be able to choose from several supported languages like Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese (Brazil), Hindi, and Russian.

After you select a language, WhatsApp will download the language pack on your device. There will also be an option to download a special pack that can detect the language of messages automatically.

The translation feature will be available in the chat info screen. From there, you can set which language messages should be translated from, chat by chat. This means you can have different settings for different chats.

If you don't want automatic translation, WhatsApp will allow you to translate messages one at a time. Just tap and hold the message, then choose the "Translate" option. All translations happen directly on your phone, so your messages stay private. No data is sent to Meta or any outside servers.

How to Translate WhatsApp Chat Messages on Android

Step 1: Open the chat where you want to translate messages.

Step 2: To translate all messages in that chat automatically, enable the auto-translate option, which can be found in the chat info screen.

Step 3: If you prefer to translate individual messages, just tap and hold the message, then select "Translate."
