How you should choose a headphone?
Planning to buy a new headphone? This might help you make the purchase decision.
To keep yourself at a distance from the noisy environment of outside, many of us take the support of headphones. The market is filled with many headphones. As a result of the many choices which are available to us, we end up getting confused about what to choose. In this post, we will guide you about how you should choose a headphone. When buying a headphone, you should consider many things. We will discuss all the factors here.
How should you choose a headphone?
Consider the type of headphones that you need.
There are two main types of headphones: full-size headphones and ear-fitting headphones. The first question that you need to ask is why you need the headphone. If you are the headphone for listening to music, you can go for over-ear full-size headphones as they give you a heavy base and better surround sound. Similarly, you can use the in-ear (a type of ear-fitting headphones) if you are looking for a superior noise isolation environment. Also, take into consideration the type of material which is used in the headphone.
Frequency Range
Soundwave is characterized by its frequency. The hearing range of the human beings lies between 20 to 20,000 Hz. You should look for a headphone that produces a frequency within this range. However, if you want to enjoy deep bass, go for a headphone that produces a frequency below 20 Hz. It is strongly advised to stay away from a headphone that produces a frequency of more than 20,000 Hz because honestly, it is of no use.
Impedance
A headphone uses the electric current of the device to which it is connected. Impedance is the measurement of the resistance of the driver to the electric current. When put in simple terms, lower impedance means that you will receive higher volume at the same electric input. It should be noted that high impedance headphones have its pros. They are less susceptible to blowouts when compared to low impedance headphones. You should go for low impedance headphones if you were using it on your smartphone and laptop. If you want a headphone for audio mixers, high impedance headphones are a good choice.
Magnet Type
Ferrite and neodymium are the two most common types of magnets which the manufacturers use of the headphones. If given a choice, go for the neodymium magnets because its magnetic force is same as that of ferrite magnets, but it weighs much lesser! And we all know it is easy to wear lighter headphones.
Consider these factors when you are buying your next headphones. All these factors are easily available in the additional information section in the website from where you will be buying the headphones.
