Instagram Tips: How to Keep Reels as Your Main Feed – Step-by-step Guide

If you're a fan of scrolling Reels, you might want to see Reels first every time you open the app. Instagram now lets users place Reels at the centre of the experience, turning them into the default home feed. The feature also works both ways, so users can disable it at any time.

The option sits inside Instagram’s menu, under an experimental section called 'Instagram early access'. Once enabled, the home screen starts with a Reels-first layout. Here's how to turn it on.

Instagram Tips: How to Keep Reels as Your Main Feed

How to set Instagram Reels as main feed

  • Open the Instagram app.
  • Tap your profile icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  • Click the three lines (menu) in the top-right corner and scroll down to find Instagram Early Access.
  • Tap "Get Early Access". Once activated, Reels will be set as your main feed, so you'll see Reels right on your home page.

Users who no longer want Reels on the Home screen can revisit the same early access menu. The option can be turned off through identical steps, restoring the usual mixed feed. This flexibility lets viewers switch between a Reels-focused experience and the traditional layout whenever viewing habits change.

Reels-first feeds are perfect for users who love quick, entertaining content or want to stay updated on trends without scrolling through standard posts. With these simple steps, your Instagram experience becomes faster, fun, and full of video content.
