Learn how to use Find My iPhone to find your lost or stolen phone
Lost your iPhone? First of all, we feel sorry for you! But that's not it. We are here to help you find your stolen or missing iPhone. Generally, Apple's iPhones come with "Find My iPhone" option to discover the location of your iPhone or iPad. Today, in this article, we will guide you on how to Find My iPhone to find your lost or stolen phone.
This app works on all the iOS devices including iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac so that you can keep a track of all your Apple devices. Once you set up the Find my Phone option, your iPhone will be connecting to the internet and broadcast its location. In this case, you can use another iOS device or just visit iCloud.com to find it.
Finding your phone with iOS device
Step 1: Go to the Find My iPhone app from another iOS device.
Step 2: Open the app and enter your Apple ID and Password that you usually use.
Step 3: Now, you will see a compass saying Locating on the display as the iPhone tracks the location of your devices.
Step 4: During the process, it prompts you such as allowing Find My iPhone to know your location and an option to Turn on Send the Last Location. Once you turned on the option, it will show you the map indicating your device is.
Step 5: Now, tap on the map to check the location of your 'lost’ device.
Step 6: Depending on the iPhone model and the iOS version you can switch your iPhone into Lost Mode or erase your iPhone content so that your data won't be in wrong hands.
Using iCloud
Step 1: From your PC or Mac head on to iCloud.com and log in using your Apple ID and Password.
Step 2: Now click on Find iPhone and wait till your device is located.
Step 3: The located device will be represented by a green dot. Once you locate the device, you can zoom in the location to see clearly.
Step 4: After this, you will have options to Play Sound so you can hear where your iPhone is if you had forgotten which room you left it in, Lost Mode and Erase, which will wipe your iPhone.
