In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 3 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display. The flagship smartphone comes with Snapdragon 820 chipset along with 6GB of RAM. There are some tips and tricks for the OnePlus 3 which are hidden in the native Oxygen OS and here's how to enable them and use your smartphone productively.
Dark Mode to Save Your Battery
The Oxygen OS comes with a feature called 'Dark Mode'. When enabled, you can see entire device's accent will be turned to dark and hence it saves the battery life. You can enable the Dark Mode under Settings>Customization> Enable Dark Mode.
Use Alert Slider to Switch Between DND Modes
The Alert Slider was first introduced with the OnePlus 2. Technically, you can switch between three different modes with the help of alert slider- All Notifications ( Default), Priority Notifications, Silent Mode.
Though you cannot change the Alert Slider order, but you can customize the Priority Notifications and Silent mode settings under the Settings app.
Use Night Mode to Reduce Eye Straining
The Oxygen OS even has support for Night Mode, which is due to release with the Android 7.0 Nougat. The Night Mode can be found under 'Settings' app. Enable the Night Mode under Display settings. When enabled, you can see a slider below the Night Mode option which allows you to toggle the color level you need.
Tweak Your Display With White Balance Mode
With the latest update, the OnePlus 3 picked a new feature for tweaking the display. This move came because the company received a lot of critics for not adding this options and you can now tweak the display according to your need.
This setting can be found under 'Settings> Display> Color Balance (Move the slider)
Assign Tasks to Your Home Buttons
The Home Button on the OnePlus 3 is allowed to perform other operations such as the Long Press Home Button to open the camera app, Double Tap the Home Button to Open Google Now. You can even tweak the recent and back button keys with some functionalities such as Turn Off Screen, Open Search Assistant, etc.
You can change the buttons settings under 'Settings> Buttons> Change Them'
Off-Screen Gestures
OnePlus 3' s Oxygen OS has support for off-screen gestures as well. The gestures include- Double Tap to Wake, Draw 'O' to open Camera, Iraq 'V' to turn on the flashlight, etc. However, you cannot add your own gestures, which is a bit of a letdown.
The Gestures can be found under Settings.
Use OnePlus Launcher for Shelf Mode
The OnePlus launcher offers some unique functionalities. The major feature is the 'Shelf' mode which is basically a separate screen to the left of the home screen and has functionalities such as Display Memos, Add Widgets for easier use, Show Recent Contacts, etc.
The OnePlus launcher offers other features such as app icon resizing, change application drawer layout, etc. You can tweak the launcher by long pressing on the home screen.
Change Quick Toggles Easily
You can easily change the device's quick toggles by dragging the notification drawer and hitting the 'Edit' button present below the user icon. You can save them once after editing.
Change Battery icon
Bored of your default battery icon? Well, you can change it in OnePlus 3. This setting can be found under the 'Settings> Battery> Battery Icon> Choose your liking'. You can choose between Battery Bar, Battery Circle, Battery Percent, and Battery Hidden to hide your battery icon.
Always Use Dash-Charger
OnePlus 3 supports fast charging which the company touts as 'Dash Charge'. With the Dash Charger, the OnePlus 3 charges around 70 percent in just 30 minutes, which is really insane. That said, carry the OnePlus 3's bundled charger wherever you go.
