The year 2016 has been a busy one for Xiaomi in India. The company has launched a slew of smartphones ranging from flagships to entry-level smartphones. The recent ones to arrive are the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime.
Both the devices have been priced around Rs. 10,000 and the Redmi 3S is the upgrade to last year's Redmi 2 Prime. However, both the smartphones look like the miniatures of the Redmi Note 3. We, at GizBot, have already covered the first impressions of the elder sibling, the Redmi 3S Prime.
To recall, the Redmi 3S Prime comes with a smaller 5-inch 720p display and a newer octa-core Snapdragon chipset. There is 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of on-board storage. The smartphone has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.
Battery capacity on this device is of 4,100mAh. On the software front, the device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on top of MIUI 7.5. We all know about the MIUI, it is a heavily customized version of Android and comes with several tweaks which are not present in stock Android.
In this guide, we will guide you through the essential tips-and-tricks of the newly launched Redmi 3S Prime. Read on to know more:

The Redmi 3S Prime comes with an integrated cleaner and virus scanner. Cleaner allows you to clean your smartphone which cleans cache and junk files, if any. Virus Scanner scans for always scans your device to keep it clear from the virus. Both these settings can be found under Settings> Security.
Lock Apps with Fingerprint scanner
In Android, if you want to lock an application, you need to download third-party apps such as Applock, etc. However, in Redmi 3S Prime, you can lock the apps within the MIUI itself and you can unlock them with the fingerprint scanner, which is a really brilliant addition. You can find the 'App Lock' under Settings> Additional Settings> Privacy> Privacy Protection> App Lock> Choose between apps.
Quickly Change the Lockscreen Wallpaper
In MIUI 7, you can change the wallpaper within the lock screen itself. The Wallpaper Carousel comes enabled by default and you need an internet connection to change between the wallpapers. There is a button on top right of the lock screen. By pressing it, you can change the wallpapers.
Use Mi Remote App to Control Devices Nearby
The Redmi 3S Prime comes with support for IR Blaster. Also, the MIUI has an inbuilt app called 'Mi Remote' with which you can control the devices which are connected to the smartphone. The Mi Remote can be found on the home screen.

Two-Finger pinch opens the basic settings of the drawer and the Three-Finger pinch brings the number of screens of the launcher where you can add and delete the screens.
