Apple WWDC 2026 Starts June 8, 2026: iOS 27, New Apple TV 4K, Siri AI Enhancements, More Incoming
Apple is preparing to open WWDC 2026 on 8 June, with the company stressing "AI advancements" in its official announcement. Attention is already on iOS 27, where a more capable Siri is widely expected, after several years of anticipation for deeper intelligence features since iOS 18.
The upgraded Siri, linked to Apple Intelligence, is expected to use personal context and richer search. It is also anticipated to understand on-screen content, answer queries about what appears, and perform more actions across apps. Apple is developing a chatbot-style version of Siri aimed at competing with ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, and a preview could appear at WWDC 2026.

WWDC 2026 Apple AI Advancements and iOS 27
Apple spelled out its plans in the WWDC 2026 notice, stating that "WWDC26 will spotlight incredible updates for Apple platforms, including AI advancements and exciting new software and developer tools." The specific reference to "AI advancements" suggests fresh Siri abilities and extra artificial intelligence features, building on rumours already collected in the detailed iOS 27 roundup.
Beyond software, Apple has already had a busy March hardware schedule. The company has introduced nine devices, including iPhone 17e, new iPad Air models with the M4 chip, and updated MacBook Air models with the M5 chip. The lineup also adds MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a new MacBook Neo, refreshed Studio Display and Studio Display XDR, AirPods Max 2, and the Nike Powerbeats Pro 2.

New Hardware Launches
Amid these launches, two expected home devices remain missing from Apple’s 2026 releases. New Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini models are still unreleased, despite Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reporting in the Power On newsletter that updated versions have been "ready" since last year. According to Gurman, Apple has delayed shipping them until the more personalised Siri and related features are prepared.
Apple AI Advancements and iOS 26.4 Features
The latest iPhone software, iOS 26.4, does not deliver the large Siri overhaul that many users wanted. However, the update introduces several improvements, including an AI playlist generator in Apple Music and additional emoji characters. The Playlist Playground option lets people create playlists from text descriptions, using moods, feelings or activities as prompts.
All eyes now turn to 8 June, when WWDC 2026 is expected to detail Apple’s AI direction across platforms. The event should clarify how iOS 27, the next Siri upgrades, pending Apple TV and HomePod mini hardware, and features like Playlist Playground fit together within the company’s broader software strategy.
