Mozilla 57.0.4 version addresses Spectre and Meltdown Malware flaws
Mozilla rolls out Firefox version 57.0.4 to cope up with Meltdown and Spectre malware. The new update is available for both desktop and mobile users.
Mozilla, the web browser that needs no introduction has rolled out Firefox version 57.0.4 for its worldwide users. The new update is available for both desktop and mobile users andclaims to resolve the recent viral security flaws- Meltdown and Spectre.
As per some reports Firefox has released the version 57.0.4 on desktop platforms including Windows, Linux and macOS. The version is however still unavailable for Android users. Mozilla has not yet announced when it will release the updated version for Android users.
The major highlight of the new Firefox version for PC are basically the security fixes to tackle Spectre and Meltdown attacks. The security flaw Meltdown and Spectre has affected most of the devices like Intel, ARM CPU's and AMD which pose a major threat to computers and mobile devices. If a device is affected by Meltdown then it's prone to hackers and they can bypass the hardware barrier which allows them to get sensitive information from a users account. Unlike Meltdown, the Spectre malware affects all devices.
As per some reports, Firefox announced version 57.0.4 browser for desktop devices including Windows, linux, macOS.
The Mozilla Firefox version 57.0.4 disbled its SharedArrayBuffer to prevent Meltdown attacks. It is claimed by Google that it already had warned the affected companies earlier this year in July. To protect against Spectre and Meltdown malware Google already has issued some security updates.
It was made clear by Apple recently that all Mac and iOS devices had been affected by the malware and will release a security fix for Safari in coming days.
It is requested that users should download any content from secured website and not click on any malicious link to stay out of danger.
