Apple’s Cheapest MacBook Price and Launch Timeline Tipped: Check Expected India Price, Specs, Colors

Apple is reportedly still developing a lower-cost MacBook aimed at the entry-level segment. If current reports are right, it could debut at around $599, translating to roughly ₹54,000 on paper, and potentially become Apple’s most affordable MacBook to date.

Apple’s Cheapest MacBook Price and Launch Timeline Tipped

A MacBook Powered By An iPhone Chip

According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s lower-cost MacBook could use the A18 Pro chip, the same class of processor used in recent iPhones, instead of the usual M-series silicon. That decision goes a long way in explaining how Apple could bring the price down without completely rethinking the MacBook experience.

The rumored configuration includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which lines up with Apple’s current entry-level Macs. The display is said to be a 12.9-inch LCD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate, suggesting this model isn’t trying to chase premium display specs.

Color options may also be more playful than usual, with silver, blue, pink, and yellow reportedly in the mix.

Budget MacBook Expected Launch Timeline

Timing-wise, multiple reports continue to point to an early 2026 launch. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said the device could be Apple’s headline Mac launch in the first half of the year, even if the exact month remains unclear.

Gurman has previously described the device as a 13-inch MacBook built around an “iPhone-class chip,” positioning it as a direct response to budget Windows laptops and Chromebooks.

Possible India Price

While $599 is the headline figure, it’s unlikely to be the number Indian buyers actually see on the shelf. A direct conversion puts it at roughly ₹54,000, but Apple’s India pricing usually reflects import duties, GST, and other local costs.

That means the real-world price could land closer to the ₹60,000–₹65,000 range if the MacBook launches officially in India. Even then, it would still sit noticeably below the current MacBook Air pricing in the country, creating a more accessible entry point into Apple’s laptop lineup.

There’s also some debate around how low Apple will actually go. While Ming-Chi Kuo’s estimate points to a $599 starting price, other reports have suggested figures closer to $699 or $750. If Apple settles on the higher end, Indian pricing would shift upward as well, though the device would still undercut the MacBook Air.

The Tradeoffs

To reach these lower price points, Apple may make a few compromises, such as fewer USB-C ports, a basic LCD display, and sticking to the minimum 8GB of memory. That trade-off makes sense for a MacBook designed around affordability rather than power users.

If Apple can still deliver smooth everyday performance with the A18 Pro chip and tight macOS integration, this could end up being the most realistic MacBook option yet for buyers who’ve always found Apple laptops just out of reach.
