Apple Mac mini M6, Mac Studio M5 Ultra Launched in India: Price, Specs, Availability

Apple has refreshed two of its most compact desktop Macs in India. The new Mac mini and Mac Studio are now officially available to buy, bringing Apple's latest silicon alongside macOS 27 and a much bigger focus on on-device AI.

The Mac mini gets the newer M6 chip on the standard model, while users who need more performance can opt for the M5 Pro version. The Mac Studio sits much higher up the performance ladder with M5 Max and M5 Ultra configurations aimed primarily at creators and professionals handling demanding workloads.

Mac mini and Mac Studio Price and Availability in India

The new Mac mini and Mac Studio are available in India starting September 22 through Apple Store locations, Apple's online store, and Apple Authorised Resellers. Apple is also offering discounted education pricing across all four configurations.

There is one small wait involved if you're eyeing the highest-end configuration. Apple says the Mac Studio with M5 Ultra and 512GB of unified memory will become available in late October.

Mac mini Gets the M6 Treatment

The Mac mini remains Apple's more approachable desktop of the two, but there's quite a lot happening inside its compact chassis this time around.

The M6-powered Mac mini comes with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, with Neural Accelerators built into every GPU core. Apple is also using a new dual 16-core Neural Engine, with the company claiming up to four times faster AI performance, twice the graphics performance, and up to 40 percent faster CPU performance compared with earlier models.

It starts with 16GB of unified memory and can be configured with up to 32GB, while memory bandwidth reaches 170GB/s. Apple is also pitching the machine for more than regular browsing and office work, highlighting local AI workloads, coding, music production, and other creative tasks.

If you need more performance, there's the M5 Pro version. It can be configured with up to an 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, and 64GB of unified memory with 307GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Connectivity has been upgraded as well, with both versions offering Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 2.5Gb Ethernet as standard. A 10Gb Ethernet option is also available.

Mac Studio Goes All the Way Up to M5 Ultra

Mac Studio is where things get considerably more serious. The M5 Max configuration packs an 18-core CPU and up to a 40-core GPU, alongside support for as much as 128GB of unified memory.

The M5 Ultra takes that even further with up to a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU, and as much as 512GB of unified memory. Memory bandwidth can reach 1.2TB/s, which should give you a pretty good idea of who Apple is targeting here.

We're talking about workloads such as real-time 8K video editing, complex 3D rendering, VFX, and running large AI models locally without having to rely entirely on cloud hardware.

Thunderbolt 5 is included too, offering transfer speeds of up to 120Gbps. Apple says multiple Mac Studio systems can also be connected using Remote Direct Memory Access for distributed AI workloads, delivering up to three times faster distributed AI inference compared with a single system.

Display support is equally impressive. The Mac Studio can drive up to eight displays, or as many as four Studio Display XDR monitors at their full 5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

macOS 27 and Siri AI Are a Big Part of the Upgrade

Hardware isn't the only part of Apple's pitch this year. Both desktops ship with macOS 27 Golden Gate, which brings the company's newer Siri AI experience alongside several Apple Intelligence additions.

Siri AI can use personal context from messages, emails, and photos to answer questions and help users find information. It is also integrated into Spotlight and system-wide context menus, while Visual Intelligence can understand what's currently visible on the Mac's display.

Safari can automatically organise tabs into topics and alert users when something on a website changes, such as a product coming back in stock or dropping in price. Shortcuts can also create automations from natural-language descriptions.

That heavier focus on local AI also helps explain some of the enormous hardware configurations Apple is offering, particularly on the Mac Studio. A desktop with 512GB of unified memory is obviously far beyond what most people need, but for professionals working with large creative projects or local AI models, Apple is giving them plenty of headroom.

For everyone else, the M6 Mac mini is naturally the more accessible option. It keeps the compact desktop format while bringing newer hardware, faster connectivity, and Apple's latest software and AI features.
