Apple Pro And Tell Event Today: What To Expect, How To Watch Livestream

Apple has been on a launch spree this week and has already announced the new iPad Mini, MacBook Pro and iMac. And tonight, it is finally time for the big reveal. The Apple Pro and Tell event is taking place today, October 28, and everyone’s now waiting for the company’s first touchscreen MacBook, an idea thought to be 'ergonomically terrible’ by Steve Jobs back in 2010. More on that here.

Apple Pro And Tell Event Today: What To Expect

Coming back to the event, it comes just days after Apple’s 'Welcome Home’ showcase, where it revealed its new smart home products. So, if you’re planning to tune in, here’s when you can watch the event and what you can expect.

When and where to watch the livestream

Apple’s 'Pro and Tell’ event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28. The presentation will begin at 10 AM PT, which means it will be 1 PM ET and 5 PM GMT.

For viewers in India, that translates to 10:30 PM IST.

You can watch the event live on Apple’s official website and the Apple TV app. Apple has kept the details under wraps so far, but there’s already plenty of speculation about what could be announced. And if the reports are anything to go by, the MacBook lineup could be in for a major change.

What to expect at the event

The biggest rumour doing the rounds is that Apple could finally introduce a touchscreen MacBook. The company is reportedly working on OLED MacBook models in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, and these could be unveiled at the event.

Now, Apple has offered touchscreens on its iPhones and iPads for years, but its MacBooks have stuck to traditional displays. A touchscreen MacBook would be a big change, especially for users who have been waiting to interact with macOS directly through the display.

There’s also the possibility of new OLED panels, which could bring deeper blacks and better contrast compared to the displays on existing MacBook models. However, Apple has not officially confirmed the touchscreen MacBook or its specifications yet.

For now, we’ll have to wait for the event to find out whether these long-running rumours turn out to be true.

What has been launched by now?

Apple has already announced a few products this week, so there’s quite a bit to catch up on before tonight’s event. The company kicked things off with the new iPad Mini on Monday, followed by the M6-powered MacBook Pro and iMac on Tuesday.

New iPad Mini

The new iPad Mini was the first product to arrive this week. And while it retains the compact form factor that the series is known for, Apple has made some notable changes under the hood.

The tablet gets an 8.5-inch OLED display, replacing the LCD panel on the previous model. It is powered by Apple’s A20 processor and also comes with IP67 water and dust resistance. There’s a repositioned front-facing camera, along with a new through-screen speaker system called Acoustic Display.

Apple says the new iPad Mini is thinner and lighter than its predecessor. It starts at $699 for the 128GB variant, with preorders opening on October 28 and sales beginning November 6.

New iMac with M6

Apple has also refreshed its iMac lineup with the M6 processor. The new chip features a CPU and GPU with up to 12 cores each, while a dual 16-core Neural Engine is said to deliver up to twice the AI compute performance of the previous generation.

The iMac continues to feature a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display and comes in seven colour options: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

You can preorder the new iMac from October 28, while deliveries and in-store availability begin on November 6. The starting price is $1,499.

MacBook Pro with M6

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro is another major announcement from Apple this week. It is powered by the M6 processor, which comes with a 12-core CPU and GPU, along with a dual 16-core Neural Engine for AI-related tasks.

Apple claims that the laptop can offer up to 24 hours of battery life. It also features a Liquid Retina XDR display, a 12MP Center Stage camera and a six-speaker sound system.

The MacBook Pro with M6 is available to preorder from October 28, with sales beginning November 6. Pricing starts at $1,999.

Apple Creator Studio updates

Apple’s Creator Studio software suite has also received a few updates. Final Cut Pro for Mac now gets built-in MotionVFX tools, including visual effects, plug-ins, transitions, templates and motion graphics.

Pixelmator Pro is getting a new Generate Fill feature, which lets users transform selected areas of an image using natural language. Meanwhile, Keynote, Pages and Numbers are receiving new AI features in beta, including assistants that can understand the context of a document.

The updated Creator Studio apps are expected to arrive in November and will be available to subscribers for free.
