CES 2018: Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 laptop, Mobile Connect software and more
The Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 laptop is powered by Intel's 8th generation processors along with AMD's Radeon RX Vega M graphics.
CES 2018 has officially started with several companies now showcasing their new products. Dell, being one of them, yesterday announced the launch of its latest XPS 15 2-in-1 laptop. The company used the occasion to make some other announcements as well.
"At Dell, innovation never sleeps. We're passionate about creating technology that expands the boundaries of what's possible," explains Sam Burd, president, Client Solutions Group, Dell. "With Dell, the incredible product design you see on the outside makes for gorgeous machines, but one of our most striking advantages comes from the innovation within," he also added.
Let's find out what are the most important things Dell had unveiled and/or announced at the CES 2018.
Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 laptop
Touted as the most powerful and smallest of its kind, the laptop is powered by Intel's 8th generation processors along with AMD's Radeon RX Vega M graphics. As claimed by Dell, the entire motherboard size has been reduced by about 50 percent. The device is fitted with a 15.6-inch InfinityEdge 4K Ultra HD display with 100 percent RGB color gamut.
Just 16mm in height, the XPS 15 2-in-1 has a MagLev keyboard, which uses magnets instead of scissor or rubber dome designs to give users haptic feedback from a full-size full travel keyboard but in a more portable form. The laptop ships with Dell's Active Pen stylus, and it has inbuilt magnets so the Active Pen be mounted and carried anywhere.
As for the battery life, the XPS 15 2-in-1 is claimed to last up to 15 hours on a single charge. The laptop will be available for purchase from April in the US. It will carry a price tag of $1,299 (around Rs. 82,700).
Dell Mobile Connect Software
The company also announced a new software solution called Dell Mobile Connect. This will enable complete wireless integration between Dell PCs and smartphones (iOS and Android).
This app will be pre-installed on all Dell laptops, using which users will be able to "make calls, send texts, get notifications and even fully mirror their phones to interact with all their favorite mobile apps".
The Mobile Connect will be available for download starting this month.
Dell also announced the launch of its new Latitude series with gold built into motherboards. The lineup has been fully refreshed with the latest 15W dual-core and quad-core 8th Gen Intel Core processors to deliver more efficient performance.
What's more, Dell's Alienware is now collaborating with NVIDIA and Oculus to create a new category of competitive virtual reality (VR) eSports that combines physical and mental competitive gaming.
Lastly, the company showcased the Dell 27 Ultrathin Monitor (S2719DM) and 24 Ultrathin Monitor (S2419HM).
