CES 2024: Asus ROG Unveils Refreshed Zephyrus G14 and G16 Laptops with New Designs

As part of its CES 2024 announcements, Asus ROG has refreshed the already excellent G14 and G16 gaming laptops with new CPUs and improved designs.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024)

Slimmer and Lighter Design

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 continues its legacy of hyper-portability with a sleeker and lighter design. Measuring just 0.62 inches thick and weighing 3.3 pounds, it maintains an appealing mobile form factor. The all-aluminum chassis and diagonal LED on the lid contribute to its aesthetic appeal, providing customization options for lighting patterns and colors.

Enhanced Components and Display

Powered by the next generation of AMD's processors, the Ryzen 8000 series, the G14 accommodates up to the Ryzen 9 8945HS. The GPU options include the RTX 4050 and RTX 4060, topping out with the RTX 4070, ensuring a great gaming experience. The laptop's display features the ROG Nebula Display, a 3K OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-Sync support.

Improved Sound and Connectivity

Asus has not only focused on design and components but has also enhanced the audio experience with six louder speakers and a larger woofer. The inclusion of a 180W power connector ensures efficient charging, complemented by USB-C, mini SD card, USB-A, and HDMI connections for versatile connectivity.

Thinner and Lighter Build

Building on the success of the G14, the Zephyrus G16 offers a slightly thinner and nearly half a pound lighter design. The Nebula display reaches up to a 2.5K OLED panel, and a vapor chamber is introduced to enhance the cooling solution.

Intel Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" Processors

The G16 opts for Intel's Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" processors, up to the Core Ultra 9 185H. This choice, despite being a thinner machine, showcases the capabilities of Intel's high-performance H series, offering an advantage in AI-related tasks with the built-in neural processing unit (NPU).

GPU Options and Versatility

The G16 maintains core similarities with the G14 but introduces additional versions with the RTX 4080s and RTX 4090s. Both laptops offer one-zone RGB backlighting or all-white lighting for the keyboard, a 1080p IR webcam, and are set to release in the first quarter of 2024.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is priced at approximately $2,416.71, while the Zephyrus G16 comes with a price tag of approximately $2,925.49.
