CES 2025 | Intel Announces Next-gen AI Chips for Gaming Laptops

Intel Core Ultra 200V Series

Intel's new Core Ultra 200V series mobile processors, equipped with Intel vPro, aim to boost AI-driven productivity and IT management in businesses. This combination of performance, efficiency, and advanced security creates a robust platform for modern workplaces. The seamless Microsoft Copilot+ experience is an added advantage.

Intel Core Ultra Processor

The newly unveiled Intel Core Ultra 200HX and H series mobile processors come with enhanced Performance-cores and Efficient-cores. They also include an integrated neural processing unit (NPU) for AI acceleration and optional Intel Arc graphics.

The Intel Core Ultra 200U series mobile processors offer a blend of performance and power efficiency for mainstream users. Meanwhile, the desktop processor lineup expands with the introduction of 12 new models in the 65-watt and 35-watt categories for mainstream desktop users.

The Intel Core Ultra 200HX series boasts up to 24 cores—eight Performance-cores (P-cores) and 16 Efficient-cores (E-cores). The H-series features up to 16 cores—six P-cores, eight E-cores, and two low-power E-cores—based on Intel's latest architecture. These processors provide up to a 41% improvement in multi-thread performance compared to previous HX-series models.

The H-series includes Intel Arc graphics with up to eight X cores featuring X Matrix Extensions (XMX) for AI acceleration, offering up to a 22% boost in gaming performance over prior generations. The HX series provides extensive bandwidth and connectivity options with up to 48 PCI lanes.

Packaging enhancements result in a processor package that is 33% smaller overall, enabling premium thin-and-light designs without sacrificing performance. This innovation supports the creation of sleek devices that maintain high functionality.

Intel Core Ultra 200U Series

On the other hand, the launch of the Intel Core Ultra 200U series introduces mobile processors with up to two P-cores and eight E-cores, along with Intel X LPG graphics. These systems offer an excellent balance between performance, power efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

The expansion of the desktop processor lineup includes new offerings in the Intel Core Ultra 200S series. With up to eight P-cores and sixteen E-cores, these processors deliver impressive performance for gaming, creative tasks, or productivity applications.

Availability Timeline

Systems powered by the Intel Core Ultra 200V series with vPro technology is already available, while systems featuring the Intel Core Ultra 200H and U series will become available in February 2025. The HX series systems are expected in the first half of the year.

The new desktop processors from the Intel Core Ultra 200S series will be accessible through various retail channels starting January 13, 2025. Customers can look forward to purchasing these products online or at physical stores soon after their release dates.
