Things are getting interesting as we draw close to CES 2018. Many manufacturers are gearing up for the event and some are even announcing new products ahead of the main show. As such, the laptop now features a new chassis in white and rose gold hue with woven glass fiber coating which the company has claimed will make the device resistant to any stains and UV rays.

Dell in its blog post has stated that it wants to ensure that XPS 13 looks as "beautiful on day 1,000 as it does on day 1." "If you get a pen mark or other stain on the white interior you can just wipe it off. And with a heat resistance superior to metal, woven glass fiber also stays cooler to facilitate longer performance."

To go with the overall aesthetics Dell will also be providing white chargers and power cords with the XPS 13. The company said, "We not only worked to create the most beautiful laptop on the market but extended that design ethos to its matching white power cords and USB-A/USB-C adapter. And moving from style to lifestyle, we invested in sustainable recycled ocean plastics and bamboo packaging so you can purchase with confidence knowing that Dell is doing its part to help the planet."

Besides its head-turning exterior and looks Dell has commented that the new XPS 13 is better in every measure. As such, the new laptop is lightweight and weighs 1.22kg. Further, Dell XPS 13 comes with a 13-inch InfinityEdge display with thinner bezels on the sides. The front camera has been moved near the keyboard. Besides, Dell has said that the laptop is 30 percent thinner than its predecessor, with a thickness of 3.4mm.

Talking about the specifications, Dell XPS 13 comes in FHD non-touch or 4K touch display. The laptop houses a quad-core 8th generation Intel Core processor (choice of Core i5-8250U or Core i7-8550U), up to 1TB PCIe SSDs, up to 16GB RAM support and a battery life of up to 20 hours on full-HD and 11 hours on 4K Ultra HD mode as per the company. The Dell XPS 13 ships with a USB Type-A to USB Type-C adapter.

"While we made the system smaller and lighter, we were able to increase the performance by 2x, over the original XPS 13 launched in 2015," Dell said.

The new laptop comes at a starting price of $999 (roughly Rs. 63,336) and will be first available in the US starting January 4. Users can choose between different configurations but they will basically have to pay a higher amount. Additionally, Dell is also offering a developer edition of the laptop with Ubuntu at $950 (roughly Rs. 60,238). More details regarding the global availability and price should be revealed after CES 2018.
