Googlebook Laptops Pre-Orders to Begin September 21: Gemini AI and Android Features Revealed

Google is preparing to open pre-orders for its upcoming Googlebook laptops, marking the next step in its push to bring Android-based computing to traditional laptop form factors. The company has confirmed that pre-orders will begin later this month, although several key details, including pricing and launch models, are still under wraps.

Googlebook Pre-Orders Start September 21

According to Google's official Googlebook website, pre-orders will open on September 21. Customers can also sign up to receive notifications when pre-orders go live.

Google has not yet revealed the Googlebook price, shipping date or the exact laptop models that will be available when pre-orders begin. The first Googlebook devices are being developed by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo, but Google is yet to confirm which models will launch first.

The company introduced Googlebook at The Android Show: I/O Edition in May, positioning the platform as a new category of laptops built around Android rather than ChromeOS.

Googlebook Features and Android Integration

Googlebooks will use Google's Android technology stack, although the company has not confirmed the final name of the operating system. Existing Chromebooks will continue using ChromeOS and will remain focused on simple, everyday computing.

AI will be a major part of the Googlebook experience, with Gemini Intelligence powering several features. Magic Pointer will allow users to select content on the screen and ask Gemini to analyse, compare or create content based on it.

Another feature, Create My Widget, can turn a written request into a customised desktop widget. Google has demonstrated this with a travel tracker that combines flight, hotel and restaurant information.

Google is also building tighter connections with Android smartphones. Cast My Apps will allow users to access phone apps on their Googlebook, while Quick Access will provide access to files stored on their Android phone.

The laptops will also feature Google's Glowbar, a distinctive light element positioned above the keyboard that previously appeared on the Chromebook Pixel.
