HP Chromebook 11 G6 and Chromebook 14 G5 launched ahead of CES 2018
HP has come up with its latest range of Chromebook laptops while the CES 2018 tech show is all set to commence in a few days. The new models in the lineup are the Chromebook 14 GS and Chromebook 11 G6 and these are aimed at the business and education sectors. Both the laptops flaunt a similar design with USB Type-C ports and sport the 7th generation Intel Celeron chipsets.
The HP Chromebook 14 GS and Chromebook 11 G6 are the latest iterations of Chrome OS-based laptops. The Chromebooks are low-end computing devices those are meant for basic usages such as web browsing and document editing. These laptops that run Chrome OS can also run Android apps available in the Google Play Store.
HP Chromebook 14 GS and Chromebook 11 G6 are touted to be durable. These models will be showcased at HP's booth at the CES 2018 show floor starting from January 9 in Las Vegas. When it comes to the design, the Chromebook 11 G6 is seen to sport a change in terms of positioning of the USB Type-C and USB Type-A ports. The Chromebook 14 G5 have the ports at the sides of the palm rest while the 11 G6 appears to have the ports at the upper corners, claims a report by 9to5Google citing a CNET report.
As mentioned above, the USB Type-C port on these HP Chromebooks will double as the charging ports as well. Both the HP Chromebook 14 GS and Chromebook 11 G6 models are based on the 7th generation Intel Celeron N processors. It is claimed that the dual-core Celeron N3350 processor is more power efficient while the quad-core Celeron N3450 processor supports up to 8GB RAM for a smoother and improved performance.
The Intel Celeron N processors used by the HP Chromebook models work in conjunction with Intel HD Graphics 500 and support up to 64GB of storage space. These Chromebooks measure less than 19mm in thickness and have cleared the military test standard MIL-STD 810G. The Chromebook 14 G5 and Chromebook 11 G6 have an IPS touchscreen display with HD resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and 180-degree hinges.
The report adds that these laptops will be released for purchase sometime in February 2018.
