HP unveiled Chromebook x2, can it take on Apple's iPad Pro?
HP has taken the charge for making 2-in-1 Chromebook with its latest Chromebook x2. The Chromebook x2 comes with the support of active pen as well.
Amercian PC manufacturer HP has now unveiled its latest Chromebook x2, which it described as "the world's first Chromebook detachable." We are living in a world where we have started to see hybrid detachable Chromebooks.
Two weeks back Acer has announced its first Chrome OS table which houses a high-resolution touch, like the one which is there on the new iPad. Now HP has taken the charge for making 2-in-1 Chromebook with its latest Chromebook x2.
The Chromebook x2 is a thin and lightweight table which can be easily hinged in and out from its magnetic keyboard. The device can be used as a conventional laptop as well as in tablet mode without the keyboard.
The Chromebook x2 is 15.3mm thick and weighs 3.14 pounds (1.42kg )when its attached to the keyboard. While using to on table mode it's 8.2mm thick and weighs 1.6 pounds (735g). The convertible Chromebook sports a 12.3-inch Quad HD touchscreen display and equipped with Gorilla Glass 4 for better durability.
The device is powered by the Intel Core M3-7Y30 processor and paired with 8GB LPDDR3 of memory. The Chromebook comes with a onboard storage of 32GB and it can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. The Chromebook x2 also comes with the support of active pen. The stylus is meant for drawing, unlining, writing and highlighting directly on the screen.
The company claims that the device will deliver a battery life of 10 hours. The Chromebook x2 also features dual speakers along with "audio custom tuned by B&O Play." As far as cameras concerned, the device houses two camera sensors one at the front and another on the rear panel with 5-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors respectively.
On connectivity part, the Chromebook x2 features two USB-C port for data transfer, charging port, display port and a 3.5mm audio output jack. The Chromebook x2 will come with the starting price of $599.99 (approx Rs 38,948) and the device will be available from 10 June 2018 as per HP.
With these offerings, HP is directly competing with the other rival brands like Google's Pixelbook and especially Apple's iPad Pro. Let's see whether users will go for the device which runs on Chrome OS and offers access to Android apps, or still stick with the Apple brand.
