"The 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK processor is the highest-performance laptop processor Intel has ever built to deliver the best gaming and content creation experience on the go," said Intel.

The company also shared insights on its 8th Gen Intel Core vPro platform that allows business owners to manage large deployments of PCs remotely. It also offers a biometric authentication, BIOS integrity verification, malware protection and mitigates identity theft.

The 8th gen processors and the vPro will first come for thin and lightweight laptops followed by the conventional ones, workstations, and desktops. The new processors are based on Coffee Lake platform and are built using the 14nm++ process, allowing them to deliver up to 41 percent more frames per second during gaming. It performs up to 59 percent faster than the previous generation with same graphics.

"As the PC gaming industry rapidly grows, Intel has seen increasing demand for incredibly fast laptops that can provide desktop-like performance for an immersive and responsive experience, including the ability to stream and record without compromising gameplay while still enabling portability," said Intel in the press release.

The latest processor has been designed to push the limits of performance for mobile computing. It is probably the best chip ever built by the company and also the first to incorporate 6 cores and 12 threads. It also has the new Intel Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB), which claims to offer a turbo frequency of up to 4.8GHz.

Intel also introduced a new Data Drive Acceleration feature that is meant to amplify the performance of a large secondary HDD drives installed in addition to the primary SSD drive. It also provides up to 1.7 times faster media loading and up to 4.7 times game loading capabilities.

Intel will be providing laptop manufacturers with Intel Core i9+, i7+ and i5+ badges for select models to notify users that they are buying a laptop that features company's high-performance 8th Gen Intel Core mobile processor backed by Intel Optane memory acceleration and Intel Core performance techs. These laptops are expected to arrive later this year.
