MWC 2025: Lenovo Reveals Yoga Solar PC Concept—A Laptop That Runs on Sunlight
At MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Lenovo made a bold move toward sustainable computing with the introduction of the Yoga Solar PC concept, a solar-powered laptop that integrates renewable energy into everyday tech.
Alongside this, Lenovo also showcased AI-driven innovations, further reinforcing its commitment to efficiency and sustainability in consumer electronics.

A Solar-Powered Laptop: How It Works
The Yoga Solar PC concept features a solar panel with a 24% energy conversion rate, allowing users to harness sunlight to power their laptops. This is made possible through Back Contact Cell technology, which moves the mounting brackets and gridlines to the back of the solar cells, maximizing absorption.
Lenovo claims that with just 20 minutes of sunlight exposure, the laptop can generate enough power for an hour of video playback. The laptop also includes:
- A Dynamic Solar Tracking system, which adjusts the panel for maximum energy absorption.
- A Solar-First Energy system, optimizing power management while ensuring stability.
With a 15mm thickness and a weight of 1.22kg, Lenovo is attempting to merge portability with sustainability.
Beyond Solar: Lenovo’s AI-Powered Innovations
Apart from its solar-powered concept, Lenovo introduced other AI-driven devices:
- ThinkEdge SE100 – A compact AI inferencing server designed for edge computing applications.
- ThinkBook "Codename Flip" – A futuristic AI PC concept with an 18.1-inch outward folding OLED display, which expands from a 13-inch laptop into a larger vertical screen—ideal for multitasking.
A Shift Toward Sustainable and Intelligent Tech
With concepts like the Yoga Solar PC, Lenovo is exploring how renewable energy and AI can coexist in consumer electronics. While the device remains a concept for now, it highlights a growing trend in the industry—creating smarter, more sustainable technology without compromising functionality.
