MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air Prices in India Massively Hiked: Here's How Much They Cost Now
Apple has revised prices for several MacBook and iPad models in India, pushing some configurations sharply above their launch tags. The updated prices are already showing on Apple India’s online store, making the change immediately relevant for buyers planning purchases in the coming days.
The biggest increases are visible in the MacBook Pro range, where select models now cost up to Rs 1 lakh more than their earlier listed prices. The MacBook Air and iPad Air lines have also become costlier, narrowing the gap between Apple’s mainstream and professional devices in India.

Apple MacBook Price hike in India: What has Changed
The MacBook Air with the M5 chip, earlier launched at Rs 1,19,900, is now listed at Rs 1,49,900. That is a Rs 30,000 increase for Apple’s most widely considered laptop line. The larger 15-inch MacBook Air has moved from Rs 1,44,900 to Rs 1,79,900, marking a Rs 35,000 rise.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip and 16GB RAM has seen a much steeper jump. Its price has moved from Rs 1,69,900 to Rs 2,39,900, an increase of Rs 70,000. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Max chip has reportedly become costlier by Rs 1 lakh, making it the sharpest revision in the current list.
| Product | Earlier price | New price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| MacBook Air M5 | Rs 1,19,900 | Rs 1,49,900 | Rs 30,000 |
| 15-inch MacBook Air M5 | Rs 1,44,900 | Rs 1,79,900 | Rs 35,000 |
| 14-inch MacBook Pro M5, 16GB RAM | Rs 1,69,900 | Rs 2,39,900 | Rs 70,000 |
| 11-inch iPad Air M4 | Rs 64,900 | Rs 89,900 | Rs 25,000 |
Apple’s lower-priced laptop segment has also not escaped the revision. The MacBook Neo, positioned as a more accessible option for first-time Mac buyers, is said to be costlier by Rs 10,000. That change could matter for students and home users who were waiting for a relatively affordable entry point into the Mac ecosystem.
iPad Air Also Gets Costlier for Indian buyers
The 11-inch iPad Air with the M4 processor is now listed at Rs 89,900, up from its earlier price of Rs 64,900. This Rs 25,000 jump makes the tablet a more expensive productivity device, especially for users who also need accessories such as the Apple Pencil or Magic Keyboard.
The price movement comes at a time when iPads are increasingly being pitched as laptop alternatives for students, creators and mobile professionals. A higher starting price changes that calculation, particularly in India, where accessory costs can push the final purchase price close to some premium laptop models.
Apple has also raised prices in other markets. International price changes indicate that the iPad Air now starts at $749 instead of $599, while the iPad Pro has moved from $999 to $1,199. Higher-end machines such as Mac Studio configurations are also seeing upward pricing pressure globally.
Why Apple Prices are Rising now
Apple's latest price hike appears to be driven by rising component costs, particularly memory. CEO Tim Cook has indicated that supply chain pressures are making price increases difficult to avoid. Since newer Macs and iPads rely on Apple's unified memory architecture, higher memory costs can directly impact retail pricing.
The increase is especially significant in India, where Apple products already carry premium price tags. Even a ₹25,000 hike on an iPad can affect buying decisions, while MacBook Pro models becoming ₹70,000 to ₹1 lakh more expensive may push some buyers toward older models, refurbished units, or Windows alternatives.
The timing is also crucial, as many consumers purchase Macs and iPads during the back-to-school season, for professional upgrades, or around festive sales. While the hardware remains unchanged, the higher prices alter the value proposition, making it more important than ever for buyers to compare configurations and check the latest Apple India pricing before making a purchase.
