Microsoft’s First “AI PCs” – the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 for Business Launched
Microsoft has taken the wraps off two new Surface devices aimed squarely at the business market: the Surface Pro 10 for Business and the Surface Laptop 6 for Business.
Microsoft describes them as "the first Surface AI PCs built exclusively for business."

The Surface Pro 10 for Business: Geared for Flexibility and Mobility

Microsoft has designed the Surface Pro 10 for Business with mobility and versatility in mind. It retains the signature Surface Pro design - a detachable 2-in-1 laptop. This allows users to switch between a traditional laptop format with a kickstand and keyboard, or a tablet mode for tasks like note-taking or presentations.
Microsoft has taken a proactive approach by adopting Intel's new Core Ultra processors for the Surface Pro 10 for Business. Customers can choose between Core Ultra 5 135U and Core Ultra 7 165U options, with a base configuration of 8GB RAM (expandable up to 64GB) and a 256GB Gen4 SSD. The device promises up to 19 hours of battery life.
The 13-inch display of the Surface Pro 10 for Business has been enhanced with a new anti-reflective coating and 33% more brightness. Contrary to rumors, the device will feature an LCD display instead of an OLED. However, sources suggest that a consumer-focused version with an OLED display may be announced at a future event.
The Surface Pro 10 for Business boasts a significantly improved front-facing camera with a 114-degree field of view and 1440p resolution. Additionally, the device features an NFC reader for easy authentication using devices like YubiKey NFC security keys. Microsoft is also considering introducing a 5G option for this device.
The Surface Laptop 6 for Business: Prioritizing Power for Demanding Tasks

The Surface Laptop 6 for Business adopts a traditional clamshell design, similar to most laptops. This approach prioritizes stability and a larger keyboard for extended typing sessions, making it ideal for users who spend most of their time working at a desk.
It is powered by Intel's Core Ultra H-series chips, offering desktop-grade performance. Customers can choose between Core Ultra 5 135H and Core Ultra 7 165H processors, with configurations ranging from 8GB to 64GB of RAM and storage options starting at 256GB Gen4 SSD up to 1TB.
The 15-inch model of the Surface Laptop 6 for Business will feature two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the smaller 13.5-inch model will have a single USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, in addition to other essential ports.
The Surface Laptop 6 features a high-resolution display with an anti-reflective coating, just like the Pro 10. It also boasts an upgraded 1080p front-facing camera with Windows Studio Effects.
Microsoft Surface Pro Keyboard Gets Improvements

Microsoft also enhanced the Surface Pro keyboard with a revamped bold keyset, larger font, enhanced backlighting, and a new Copilot key to activate its AI-driven feature in Windows 11.
Enhanced Serviceability
Microsoft emphasizes that these devices are its "most easily serviceable Surface devices ever." They feature QR codes on internal components and internal markings to facilitate easier identification of screws and driver types.
Both Devices Share a Look Ahead
While currently only available through Microsoft's business channels, consumer versions of these laptops are expected in May 2024. Both the Surface Pro 10 and Laptop 6 are equipped with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and a dedicated Copilot key, suggesting integration with upcoming Windows 11 AI features.
Upcoming AI Features
While Microsoft has not yet revealed all the AI features coming to Windows, the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 are designed to be fully compatible with these upcoming enhancements. Microsoft plans to unveil more details about its AI vision for both software and hardware at a special event on May 20th.
Exclusive to Business Customers
Both the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 will be sold exclusively to businesses through Microsoft's channels and authorized resellers. However, consumers can still purchase these devices from Microsoft's business store online or through resellers.
Price and Availability
Both the Surface Pro 10 for Business and Surface Laptop 6 for Business are set to begin shipping on April 9th, with prices starting at $1,199.
