Microsoft has scheduled the Special Surface and AI event today, September 21, 2023. This event will take place in New York and it is the first in-person Surface event since the pandemic.
The Microsoft Special Event should begin at 10:00 AM ET (7:30 PM IST). Microsoft has a special microsite for the event. The company is expected to upload a recorded video of the event on the microsite as well as on YouTube and other social media platforms at 1:00 PM ET (10:30 PM IST).
What To Expect From The Microsoft Special Surface And AI Event
As the name clearly indicates the Microsoft event is intended to announce and highlight the company's Surface-branded laptops and tablets in addition to the AI-based software solutions and platforms.
Microsoft is expected to announce three new Surface devices at its special event. One of the sleek laptops, identified as the Surface Laptop Studio 2 has already leaked. This laptop is powered by Intel's 13th Gen processors. Buyers get Nvidia's RTX 4060, a microSD card slot, and a USB-A port.
Although the Surface Laptop Studio 2 looks similar to its predecessor, its display can be pulled forward to transform the laptop into a tablet. Microsoft is expected to offer the first variant of this laptop with 64GB of RAM.
In addition to the abovementioned laptop, Microsoft should unveil the Surface Go 4 and Surface Laptop Go 3. Needless to mention, these would be positioned below the flagship Surface Laptop Studio 2, and hence, powered by an appropriate Intel N series CPU. According to leaks, there won't be an ARM-powered Surface laptop or tablet at the event.
In addition to the Surface laptops and tablets, Microsoft will announce new AI-based features for its popular software platforms, including Windows, Bing, and MS Office.
Microsoft is tipped to announce new features for the Microsoft Copilot AI assistant, which could be incorporated into Microsoft 365 and Office apps. Copilot allows businesses to instantly summarize documents and help craft emails. It can speed up Excel analysis. Microsoft Copilot can help the company beat other popular and competing platforms such as Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, and more.
Microsoft has been aggressively infusing AI into its apps and web-based solutions too. Users can expect Microsoft to announce new versions of the popular Snipping Tool and Photos app.
Although chances are quite slim, Microsoft could tease Windows 12 at the event. This is because the successor to Windows 11 is being built alongside AI and is expected to benefit significantly more than Windows 10 or Windows 11.
