Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1 PCs set to disappear from the market by next year
Microsoft has finally set a deadline for the PC OEM partners to stop bundling in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 OS on their Windows powered computer. Apparently the PC OEMs can still install the 3 year old Windows 7 in their hardware till October 2016.
Beyond this time frame the OEMs will have no option but be forced to install Microsoft's latest Window 10 OS. The Redmond giant has allegedly updated its Windows Lifecycle Fact Sheet page to state that June 30th is that last date for OEM to install Windows 8 in their hardware whereas the deadline for the Windows 7 is 31st October.

Surprisingly the lifecycle of Windows 8 is about 6 months less than the newer Windows 8. Apparently it seems that some statistics played in handy for Microsoft to decide on this.
According to a data by marketing research application firm, Net Market Share Windows 7 still dominates with a market share of 55.71% with Windows 8 has just a marginal amount as compared with its predecessor. In fact the Windows 8 wasn't taken quite well in the market, thanks to a number of issues.

Nevertheless the extended support lifecycle of Windows 7 is still unchanged at 14th January, 2020.
