India’s PC market declined by 15.3% YoY for fourth consecutive quarter
The latest PC market analysis from IDC, the PC market has declined in the second quarter this year by 15.3% year over year. The silver lining is that it grew compared to Q1 2023 by 5.9%.
According to the latest report from IDC, all PC market categories saw a decline, though, with the notebook segment declining by 18.5% YoY, while the desktop segment had smoother sailing with a 7% YoY decline.

PC Market Decline
Looking at the commercial and consumer PC markets and things aren't that great either. The consumer segment fell by 17% while the commercial slid by13.8% YoY.
However, there was a good upward trend in educational and government segments, as many Indian states are driving the PC market with government subsidized purchases. The educational segment grew 43.7% YoY while the government's segment growth reached 8.2% YoY.
Premium Notebook Segment Struggled
Premium notebook shipments were also 30.7% lower than a year prior due to fewer enterprise orders as the segment continued to struggle. Interestingly enough, the enterprise segment recorded a solid 39% growth quarter over quarter while sliding 15.8% YoY.
As far as vendors are concerned, HP is leading the pack with 31.1% market share, mainly driven by the consumer and commercial segments. Lenovo came in second with 16.2% share but recorded 30.2% year over year decline in sales.
Dell took the third spot with 15.3% due to its somewhat strong performance in the commercial segment. Acer and Asus took fourth and fifth positions respectively with just 11.4% and 7.2% market shares, respectively in Q2 2023.
