Gaming laptops today promise desktop-level performance, but only a few actually deliver it without major compromises. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i positions itself as a serious contender in the high-performance gaming segment, combining Intel's latest processors with powerful NVIDIA graphics and a fast high-refresh-rate display.
On paper, it looks like a machine built for both competitive gaming and demanding creative workloads. But does it truly balance performance, thermals, and everyday usability? In this review, we take a closer look at the Legion Pro 5i to see if it lives up to Lenovo's gaming pedigree.

Design & Build
The Legion Pro 5i ditches the flashy design you may see on Alienware or the over-the-top RGB lighting on ASUS ROG, opting for a more subtle aesthetic. The Legion opts for a matte black chassis with minimal branding, giving it the perfect balance of work and play.
Moving on to the build, and most of the chassis is sturdy plastic, while the lid uses lightweight aluminum for a high-quality touch. The laptop overall feels reassuringly solid. Instead of the 15.6- or 16-inch panel typically found in this class, the Legion Pro 5i opts for a slightly smaller 15.1-inch diagonal with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio. While the Legion Pro 5i is on the heavier side at nearly two and a half kilos, it feels like a fair tradeoff for a more-than capable cooling system.
Connectivity
When it comes to practicality, Lenovo has done a commendable job with the port selection on the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i. The laptop offers a well-rounded set of connectivity options, including three USB-A ports for accessories, two USB-C ports with display support, an HDMI port for external monitors, an Ethernet port for stable, low-latency gaming, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The ports are distributed across both sides of the laptop. While this can make your desk look slightly cluttered when everything is connected, it also improves accessibility. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. Additionally, the Legion Pro 5i also has a 5MP IR webcam with support for Windows Hello facial recognition. The webcam has a physical shutter for privacy and quality is decent video calls in a well-lit room.
Keyboard & Touchpad
Lenovo's reputation for excellent laptop keyboards continues with the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 10. The keyboard feels comfortable and responsive, with satisfying key travel that makes both typing and gaming enjoyable. During my time with the laptop, long writing sessions never felt tiring, and the keys struck a nice balance between tactile feedback and smooth actuation.

It features a full-size layout with a dedicated number pad. While not essential for gaming, I found it genuinely useful for productivity tasks. My unit also included the optional 24-zone RGB lighting. It works well and offers plenty of effects, though I mostly stuck to a single color to match the laptop's understated design.
The touchpad is large, smooth, and accurate for everyday tasks, though most gamers will likely switch to a mouse almost immediately.
Display
Lenovo makes no concessions on the display, opting for a 16-inch WQXGA (2560 × 1600) OLED panel with VESA True Black 1000 certification and up to 500 nits of peak brightness. It uses a taller 16:10 aspect ratio, which provides extra vertical space for both gaming and productivity tasks.

The OLED panel delivers deep blacks, excellent contrast, and vibrant wide-gamut colors, making it particularly well-suited for watching content, editing photos or videos, and general everyday use. Everything from game environments to HDR content looks rich and punchy on this display. For gamers, the panel supports up to a 240-refresh rate with NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility, ensuring smooth gameplay with minimal screen tearing.
Importantly, this is a non-touch OLED implementation, which means images remain crisp without the graininess sometimes seen on touch OLED panels. Moving on to the audio, and the Nahimic-tuned speakers are loud and clear enough for casual gaming or video streaming, but like most laptop speakers they lack deep bass, making headphones the better option for a more immersive experience.
Performance
The Legion Pro 5i Gen 10 is powered by Intel's Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, paired with 32GB of DDR5 RAM and NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU running at up to 140W TGP. On paper, that combination already suggests serious performance potential, and thankfully, the real-world experience largely lives up to those expectations.

In real-world use, the Legion Pro 5i proves to be an extremely capable gaming and productivity machine. Modern titles run comfortably at the laptop's native QHD+ resolution, with competitive shooters easily pushing very high frame rates. In my testing, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 averaged around 160fps on High settings, while Marvel Rivals reached an impressive 330fps on Medium. Even demanding titles remain highly playable, with Cyberpunk 2077 averaging 98fps without ray tracing or frame generation, Shadow of the Tomb Raider hitting 141fps on High, Counter-Strike 2 reaching 280fps, and Battlefield 6 delivering roughly 90fps on Ultra settings.

Synthetic benchmarks also highlight the laptop's raw power. It scored 2891 (single-core) and 20124 (multi-core) in Geekbench 6, while Cinebench R23 delivered 2191 single-core and 33991 multi-core scores. GPU-focused tests were equally strong, with 18,369 in 3DMark Time Spy, 9,323 in Time Spy Extreme, 31,598 in Fire Strike, and 174,914 in Geekbench OpenCL.
Part of that performance stability comes from Lenovo's Legion Coldfront Hyper cooling system. It pulls in airflow through bottom intake vents, with the raised rubber feet providing enough clearance for proper ventilation.

During my testing, the CPU temperature stayed below 92°C, which is impressive for a system pushing this much power. The fans can get fairly loud under heavy load, but the upside is consistently stable performance and well-controlled thermals.
Overall, the Legion Pro 5i delivers consistently strong real-world performance, handling modern AAA games and demanding workloads with ease while maintaining stable thermals.
Battery
Despite the addition of a large 80Whr battery, the Legion Pro 5i's productivity mileage isn't impressive to say the least. We got a little over four hours of multitasking between MS Word and Google Chrome with the screen at 50% brightness and the refresh rate set to 60Hz. Switching to the integrated graphics can extend the battery life by 30 minutes of so.

The Legion Pro 5i does charge surprisingly fast with the 245W adapter included, although it will make your backpack heavier.
Verdict
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 10 positions itself as a powerful gaming laptop that focuses heavily on performance and display quality while maintaining a relatively understated design. Its OLED panel stands out as one of the highlights, delivering excellent contrast, vibrant colors, and a high refresh rate that complements the laptop's strong gaming capabilities. The combination of Intel's Core Ultra 9 processor and the RTX 5070 Ti GPU ensures that modern games and demanding workloads run smoothly, while Lenovo's Coldfront Hyper cooling system helps maintain consistent performance under sustained loads.
At the same time, the laptop makes a few typical gaming-laptop compromises, particularly in terms of weight, fan noise under load, and modest battery life. Overall, the Legion Pro 5i emphasizes raw performance and a high-quality display, making it clearly designed for users who prioritize power and gaming capability over portability. At the time of writing, this laptop isn't available in India, but pricing globally starts at around $1,800.
