The Legion 7i uses a dual-fan cooling system with multiple heat pipes and rear exhaust vents to manage its high-performance hardware. During my gaming tests in Performance Mode, the Legion 7i generally kept both the CPU and GPU operating within the 80°C to 90°C range under sustained load, without any noticeable thermal throttling. Despite the hardware inside, fan noise remains well-controlled during everyday tasks and is barely noticeable under light workloads, with the fans often idling in Quiet Mode. I also didn't encounter any coil whine or other electronic noise during testing. More importantly, Lenovo does a good job of directing heat away from the keyboard and palm rest, ensuring the chassis remains comfortable to use even during extended gaming sessions.

The Legion 7i features a dual-speaker setup that delivers clear audio for casual use, but overall output lacks the volume and punch expected from a premium gaming laptop. During gaming sessions, the speakers are easily drowned out by the cooling fans under load, making a good pair of headphones or external speakers the better choice for an immersive experience.

During everyday use with the display set to around 60% brightness and a lower refresh rate, it lasted around 5 hours for light productivity tasks such as document editing and about 4 hours while web browsing or streaming YouTube videos. Watching 4K HDR content on Netflix stretched the runtime to roughly 5 hours, making it suitable for entertainment on the go.

More importantly, the visual quality is so good that even running demanding titles at slightly lower graphics settings still looks excellent, allowing you to prioritise higher frame rates without sacrificing the overall gaming experience.

Add to that a comfortable keyboard, excellent build quality, thoughtful port selection, quiet cooling under normal workloads and reliable QHD gaming performance, and the Legion 7i becomes an easy recommendation for gamers who also need a capable creator or productivity machine. The speakers could be better and battery life remains average by modern standards, but these are minor compromises in an otherwise outstanding package.
