Mark Zuckerberg Just Revealed His Next 10 Years Plan on Facebook

Facebook kicked off its annual developer conference F8 early today in San Francisco. The company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in his keynote, announced an array of new features and developments, ranging from enhanced live video capabilities to a platform for bots on its Messenger chat app. In the keynote to developers, Facebook unveiled its roadmap for the year, which included drones, satellites, and lasers on the product side, but a lot more on the software side.

Thanks to the F8, 2016 conference we now know Facebook's 10-year technology roadmap. The company plans to bring people together through technology. Here we have detailed 10 key highlights of the keynote that matter to you!

The company has made a major addition to its messaging platform. The new Messenger platform now gets bots that can provide information related to anything including content like weather and traffic updates, receipts, shipping notifications, or live automated messages. It will let businesses to use bot for interacting directly with the people who want to get them. The new Messenger Send / Receive API will now support images and interactive bubbles, besides sending and receiving text messages.

Facebook is all set to have a new Save button to let users save an interesting story or video or content from around the web in to their Facebook account to access it later. Users will be able to use this button to save content locally on a phone to read or watch later. This feature seems good for the publishing business, but will be taking on apps like Pocket.

Facebook M uses the company's experimental artificial intelligence assistant. It can read behavioral changes, and learns as it speaks with more people. The platform has been in a beta test for about a year, but it will now be open to developers.

Facebook users have started getting an abundance of live video on the social media platform lately. This feature will remain and grow better as Facebook is now making its Live video API open for developers to give them the freedom to find out and design more ways for users and publishers to interact and share in real time on its platform. The quality of videos will go better as the site will allow usage of higher-quality cameras and the option for better audio, which will put Facebook against other live-streaming sites like YouTube, Periscope, and Twitch. Facebook has made a 3D-360 camera system called Facebook Surround 360 that can produce high-res spherical footage in 3D. If you are thinking that Facebook is going into the camera business, well in a way yes, but it essentially want to help you make great 360-degree videos with this new camera system that is priced for about $30,000. The system is based on photo-stitching technology that stitches video from 17 cameras to produce a sharp 360-degree video. Facebook will be releasing the design specs and stitching code on GitHub this summer

Facebook, now, makes it simpler for developers to build for Free Basics with the Free Basics Simulator. It will let the users have a look at how their service will appear in the product. Moreover, the company is also letting developers get better access to Demographic Insights to understand the types of users accessing their services.

Facebook introduces Profile Expression Kit to allow developers integrate their photo apps into Facebook, and let users select rich images, such as GIFs, as their profile pictures. This essentially means that you will be able to use third-party apps to create fun profile videos in a few steps. The company releases closed beta with support for six apps that include Boomerang by Instagram, Lollicam, BeautyPlus, Cinemagraph Pro by Flixel, Lollicam, MSQRD, and Vine.

The company is now improving the service by adding more features to it. This will let developers and marketers grow their businesses by getting better insights in to their users. It has new push and in-app notifications feature that will let them send targeted messages to their user-base.
