The display is powered by company's Triluminos Display for mobile and X-Reality for mobile picture engine. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2.5 GHz quad-core CPU with 4G LTE modem and Adreno 330 GPU. Sony is also offering 3GB RAM for swift multi-tasking operation.

It runs on Google's Android 4.4 (Kitkat) OS. In terms of camera, it uses 20.7 MP rear camera with auto focus and LED flash while at the front you will get to see a 2.2 MP front-facing snapper. The smartphone comes with a 16GB on board storage, however, it can be expanded up to 128 GB using microSD slot. And that's all you need to know about the new handset.

But what sets each Sony Xperia handset apart from others lies in the camera offering with the handset. Is it even better than its predecessors? We take a look at the top 10 amazing things Sony Xperia Z3's camera can do.

Camera Sensor, ISO Test

Camera Sensor, ISO Test

In case you didn't know, the built-in camera for the Xperia Z3 not only boasts the highest ISO compared to any average smartphone in the same class, but is also offers quite the large camera sensor. It boasts the first ISO 12800 in a smartphone, meaning low light conditions isn't a hindrance anymore. On our day out with the handset, we managed to click a few images in the dark, around 9 at night. We have to say that the kind of low light detailing we saw via the Z3's camera is only possible by Sony. If anything is to be garnered from what we have seen via Sony Xperia handsets in the past, the Xperia Z3 is actually a massive improvement and even a personal best for Sony.

Camera and Handycam

Camera and Handycam

Sony has introduced its renowned Handycam recording technology for the new Xperia Z3, also backed by strong waterproofing. Taking videos have always been an important aspect in any smartphone user's life. However, the clarity and level of detailing is something that sets apart your shots from others. On our intense testing of the handset's video capabilities, we found that the overall quality on the video output is quite crisp and real life-oriented. And with support for 4K, editing videos directly from the phone was nothing less than a treat.

Understanding SteadyShot

Understanding SteadyShot

There's now the SteadyShot technology that makes sure sudden jerks or movements don't play a spoil sport in the video that you are shooting. This is really the feature that you need in every phone that claims of a good camera. There will be times when your videos will be accompanied with shaking hands and sudden jerks. On testing, it was really impressive to see that while there were a few jerks while shooting a video, the camera handled the situation well and came out with pro quality videos. Adding to it is Active Mode that analyzes many frames at the same time for a more stable output.

Waterproof Test

Waterproof Test

Since the days of its inception, the newly developed camera lens for the Xperia cameras have been said to work effectively even under water. And true is the scene with the new Xperia Z3 as well. Forget concerns about the water entering the handset, since its strong waterproofing will make sure every image comes out undisturbed and full of details. Like others before it, we managed to dunk the handset in a pool of water. The accompanying images were really clinical, with the underwater detailing scaringly accurate.

Bigger Lens

Bigger Lens

Sure the new Xperia C3 is the official selfie phone from Sony. But that hardly means Sony isn't offering anything to those who are willing for a group selfie via the Xperia Z3. Sony says Xperia Z3's award-winning G Lens captures more light, alongside the 25 mm wide-angle lens that allows you to fit more in the frame. That's actually true since we managed to fit in an entire group of at least 7 people in a single frame. And we can name a barrage of handsets that would have gone the other direction. Even the color reproduction was something that's not even garnered via a real eye. Hats off to Sony!

4K Test

4K Test

Videos and employees have something in common: the sharper, the better. And with the Xperia Z3 at your disposal, taking a video with the highest level of detailing is something that we got used to soon enough. Realistically, 4K support means that there's four times the detail compared to Full HD 1080p image quality. However, the saddest part about it is that no matter how much we write about it, enough justice won't be made on how good the 4K quality actually is. Try watching a 4k video online, and maybe you will start to perceive it better. And we can vouch for it when we say that this is something that's not possible on most other phones out there in the market.

Creating Movies

Creating Movies

There are currently a host of photos in the review unit of the Xperia Z3 that we have with us. And while most others will look to transfer those photos from their handset to their PCs, we decided to let them be. Why you ask? Well, we were impressed by the Movie Creator feature. Apparently, and not because Sony says so, it analyses your media and cluster events together. It even detects faces and locations, and in turn creating a video-esque movie that you could show off to all your friends. Thankfully, we have come a long way from creating MS PowerPoint presentations.

AR Adjustments for Images

AR Adjustments for Images

While there is a lot that you could do with your pics, even before you shoot it in the first place, it's even a bigger treat that you can do so much more with the final images. Sony is known for offering several different kinds of augmented adjustments to add a peppy feel to your images. And for the Xperia Z3, we see most of these adjustments return to the forefront. There's the new AR fun that grabbed our attention the most. And it always sounds and feels better that you can actually draw whatever you want on top of what you see through the viewfinder. We made a few adjustments to some of our photos pre-click, and the results left us impressed and amused at the same time.

More Camera Apps

More Camera Apps

The Xperia Z3, as you will soon find out, offers users the widest ever choice of unique camera apps that have been developed exclusively for Sony. They are all right there in your camera app. As we found out after hunting through them, each app has its own creative features with more to discover going forward. We were particularly overjoyed by the multi-camera feature that allowed us to take photos and videos from various viewing angles simultaneously using other WI-Fi connected devices (we paired a couple of Sony Xperia phones alongside the Xperia Z3). You can even connect up to two other Xperia smartphones and shoot with the original phone. It's like having a Sony camera everywhere you go. We have to say that the phone generally takes great shots in most lighting conditions. Brilliant!

More Apps and Features Embedded

More Apps and Features Embedded

While you will find a host of camera features and options in the original camera app of the Xperia Z3, let us tell you that you if you go hunting online, you will find even more that have been made for the handset's snapper. One of the features that again took us aback was the Sound Photo feature that takes you back in time when the photo was originally shot with a little bit of accompanied audio from the moment. This is a good one considering there was something interesting happening at that point of time. And the quality of the bit of audio captured is lifelike and true is all sensibility.
