Acer at MWC 2015: Liquid M220 Windows Phone, Jade Z and Liquid LEAP+ Smartband Goes Official
Taiwanese computer giant, Acer on Sunday, 1 March, unveiled a slew of products at the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. The company has unveiled a new range of smartphones and a wearable at MWC tech show.
It showcased its much delayed entry-level Windows Phone, alongside the Android handsets, the Liquid Jade Z, Z220, and Z520. Acer also unveiled the Leap+ active band at the world's largest tech show.

Acer Liquid M220
The Acer Liquid M220 is an entry-level handset that runs Windows Phone 8.1. The phone offers a mediocre 4-inch display (4080 x800), and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, paired with 512MB of RAM. It also has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel shooter.
The budget phone also features a 1,300mAh battery, 4GB of on-board storage, microSD card support, Dual-SIM, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The company has promised an upgrade to Windows 10 OS.
Acer says the device will go on sale in Europe in April for 80 Euros (Rs. 5,760). No word on India price though.
Acer Liquid Jade Z
Apart from the Liquid M220, Acer has come up with the Liquid Jade Z - a new mid-end phone featuring a 64-bit MediaTek processor. It's actually same as the Liquid Jade S, but this time around the new phone from Acer comes with a 64-bit processor.
Other highlighted specifications include a 5-inch 720p HD display, a 64-bit MediaTek processor, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, 8GB or 16GB of on-board storage, a 13MP rear facing camera, a 5MP front facing shooter, Android 4.4 KitKat, 3G , LTE and Wi-Fi. The device will go on sale in Europe in March for 200 Euros (Rs. 14,440).
Acer Liquid Z220 and Z520
The Liquid Z220 and Z520 are two entry-level Android-powered phones. They have 4-inch and 5-inch displays respectively. The resolution on the Z520 is 900 x 480 pixels, it has 1GB of RAM, and a quad-core MediaTek processor. Also add an 8-megapixel rear facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front facing shooter.
The Z220, on the other hand, is stuffed with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, a 5-megapixel rear facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
Acer Liquid Z220 will go on sale in Europe in March for 90 Euros (Rs. 6,480), while the Liquid Z520 follows in April for 120 Euros (Rs. 8,640).
Acer Liquid Leap+
As expected, Acer has launched the Liquid Leap + wearable device at this year's MWC tech show. Interestingly, the smartband will all main supported operating systems (Windows, Android, iOS) and features interchangeable bands.
Talking about its features, it has a 1-inch (128×32) OLED touch display which allows a good battery life of 5 to 7 days.
The small display is embedded is a colored rubber wristband, and, according to Acer the "curved surface is designed to lower body temperature by minimizing skin contact". The button-less Liquid Leap+ is waterproof (IPX7) and the user interface (UI) provides music controls and email, calendar, and text notifications.
The Acer Liquid Leap+ will be available in March in Europe for 79 Euros (Rs. 5,688).
