Google's annual I/O conference, aimed at developers all around the planet, has witnessed a number of developments happening in all sectors. We have been introduced to new and refurbished Chromebook features, alongside a host of new smartwatches from Samsung and LG.

However, the biggest news of them all is the arrival and announcement of the upcoming Android L. Needless to say, this is the next version of Android that's already setting up to be a big thing.

Although not the previously touted Android 5, but it seems like Android L is the next generation of Android (for the time being). With the arrival of "L," a host of new changes were also brought to the front. In fact, according to Sundar Pichai, head of Android, it is set to be one of the biggest Android updates to date.

The Android L is set to offer a radical new design with 5000 new APIs. And while it is already available for developer preview, the "L" will be contextually aware of its surrounding, with voice being a major input source.

But with L soon coming up from Google, which are the smartphones that will be looking to make the most out of the operating system? We take a look at the 5 smartphones that are already expected to receive the update.

The Motorola-made Moto G has had quite the year so far since its release via Indian retailing site Flipkart. Riding on its low price factor, the device has been quite popular among all. Now more good things are coming users' way as a recent report from Motorola Germany claims that the Moto G will indeed receive the L operating system.

Similar to the Moto G, the Moto X was also made available for purchase by Motorola not long ago. And the same Motorola Germany Facebook post also mentions about the Android L also heading over to the Moto X in the future. A timeframe is yet to be announced, though.

Handset maker HTC said Wednesday that it plans to bring Google's newest Android operating system to its flagship phones as soon as possible. And although it couldn't provide a potential timeline for the push out, it did mention that the One M7 is in the list.

In fact, the same HTC post from Wednesday also mentioned that not only is the company planning to offer the Android L to the One M7, but it also has One M8 listed as one of the potential candidates to receive the upgrade. So both the HTC big guns are headed the L way.

Will it, won't it! Remember when we talked about how the Moto G and the Moto X are in line to receive the Android L update? Well, the same Motorola Germany post also brought a few comments related to the availability of the OS on the Moto E. To be honest, we aren't sure if it will. But if it doesn't, rest assured that the device is still be getting the Android One update.
